The Communications Department provides strategic input in decision-making and communicating decisions of the administration and School Board. The department is responsible for developing and assisting with communication for both internal and external audiences, including community, government and media relations; crisis communication and mass notification; website and social media; news releases, newsletters and marketing materials; advertising sponsorship; brand standards and requests for information.

The Communications Department oversees operation of District 196 Cable TV and District 196 YouTube Channels the district’s Legislative Advisory Council. The Communications Department also produces a quarterly newsletter, Spotlight, that shares stories of infinite possibilities from around District 196.

District 196 TV provides programming that showcases the students, staff and schools of District 196, including:

  • School Board meetings,
  • activities in the classroom,
  • sporting events,
  • fine arts events,
  • graduation ceremonies,
  • and much more.

District 196 TV broadcasts year round 24 hours per day. District 196 TV originates from Apple Valley High School, 14450 Hayes Road, Apple Valley, MN, and is part of the Communications Department.
