District 196 appreciates participation in our online communities and welcomes appropriate, relevant posts and comments that are respectful of others and are reflective of the poster’s own experiences, are suggestions for improvements or contributions to conversations on social media.

To ensure these forums remain a secure, supportive and safe environment for our schools and communities, we monitor comments posted to our social media and may take action against any item that violates these guidelines.

Comments posted, except by the district itself, do not in any way reflect the opinions or policies of the district. To keep our social media focused, we have set the following guidelines:

• Our social media may be moderated, and all comments are reviewed by the District 196 Communications Department. 
• The following types of comments may be hidden, moderated and/or deleted:
  • Spam/Commercial: Comments or posts focused on selling a product or service, automated bots or comments that are commercial in nature
  • Illegal: Comments that violate copyright law, trade secret law, defamation/libel law or are otherwise illegal.
  • Language: Comments that are off-topic, profane, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive or derogatory, harassing, threats, and/or obscene or sexually explicit 
• We reserve the right to ban any user who continuously violates any/all of these guidelines.
• Language that violates Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities will also be reported.
