Voting Information

The 2023 School Board Election will take place Tuesday, November 7. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for District 196 residents.

Early voting in Minnesota takes place September 22 through November 6. Voters can cast their ballot in person or via U.S. mail. To find your polling location, visit www.mnvotes.org or call 651-423-7725.

In order to vote in this election, you must be:

  • At least 18 years old on Election Day;
  • I am a citizen of the United States;
  • I will have maintained residence in MN for 20 days immediately preceding election day;
  • I am a District 196 resident;
  • I am not under court-ordered guardianship in which the court order revokes my right to vote;
  • I have not been found by a court to be legally incompetent to vote, and
  • I am not currently incarcerated for a conviction of a felony offense

Vote Early by Absentee
 

ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION

Beginning Sept. 22 through Nov. 6, voters can cast their ballot ahead of Election Day through the absentee balloting process. Registered voters do not need a reason to vote by absentee ballot.

*Due to concurrent city elections, absentee voting at the District Office is not available for residents of Apple Valley or Rosemount. In addition to the County sites, Rosemount voters may cast an absentee ballot at Rosemount City Hall, 2875 145 Street West, Rosemount, MN 55068; Apple Valley voters may cast an absentee ballot at Apple Valley Municipal Center, 7100 147th Street W., Apple Valley, MN 55124.

If voting absentee at one of these locations, the voter can submit their absentee ballot application and their voted ballot all in one stop. 

To absentee vote by mail, voters may download an absentee ballot application form above and mail the completed application as directed in the application materials. Once an application is received and processed, an absentee ballot will be mailed to the voter along with instructions for completing and returning their ballot in the postage-paid envelope that is provided with the ballot.

Vote Early In Person
 

In addition, early in-person voting will be offered beginning Friday, Oct. 20 through Monday, Nov. 6, each business day at the three Dakota County government centers. When using early voting, voters complete an absentee ballot application but are then able to cast a ballot and feed it directly into the voting machine at the county.
