Samyak - Biggest struggle with online learning has been the lecture structure.  A more useful use of the time would be a workshop model.  It’s difficult to ask questions during class.  When it’s a video of the lecture, you can pause and rewind as needed.  It’s helpful to then have conversation in the class about the learning.

Ankitha - As a DA student, Ankitha appreciate the additional time with teachers made available through distance learning

Teri reviewed agenda for meeting

Teri offered a brief overview of GT identification process.  New process last year.  Intended to complete the full process this year with all 2nd and 4th grade students.  Three buckets:

Achievement - MAP

Ability - CogAT

Teacher - HOPE

(additional data - PTP and reassessment)

Question :  will there be an opportunity for older students to take the CogAT?  Yes.

Breakout groups - two groups (Teri leads one and Eric leads the other)

Teri asked team to provide feedback around timing, modes of communication,

5:51 - Teri brought the group back together and shared that Teri and Amy would review notes and put together a document to share with GTD teachers, principals, classroom teachers, and families

Touch base on GTD priority areas in hybrid/distance learning

Collaborative role of GTD teachers in buildings - continuing with goal through collaboration with literacy and math coaches, classroom teachers, EL and SPED teachers

Cognitive coaching training was postponed until it can be done safely

Supporting cluster teachers and providing professional learning opportunities - move to hybrid/distance learning had to be prioritized

Next meeting is scheduled for February - Teri invited members to share ideas for upcoming meetings

Offer SEL work/resources students could do on their own?

How can we support students as they adjust to going back to school and are not able to work at their current speed?

Every student’s experience is unique
