I.    Welcome, Introductions, Announcement, Review of Agenda

I.    Learning amidst the Pandemic: Data Points for 2020-21:

Elementary Literacy Data: Megan Pershica (K-12 Literacy Coordinator) shared data from the current school year, looking at a September and February comparison data for the following assessments:

  • Benchmark Assessment (text leveling) for grades 1-5
  • Demographic data within BAS comparison data also shared
  • Letter ID for Kindergarten
  • Hearing & Recording Sounds in Words for Kindergarten
  • Spelling Inventory for grades 1-3

Given a year of teaching & learning within a pandemic, students are still making growth within literacy that is comparable to non-pandemic years.

Middle School MAP Math and Reading Data: Steve Troen shared the middle school MAP math and reading data, comparing September/October 2019 to September/October 2020. He noted that in the fall of 2019, there was no remote testing, but that amidst the pandemic and the flexible learning model there was some remote testing with digital academy students. Steve shared enrollment information (who tested by group), and the percent of students who performed above the 50th percentile (which is average) and the percent of students who performed at the 49th percentile and below. He also shared data showing the percentage of students who met their growth target, and projected proficiency for MCAs in addition to some observations about the overall data. Additional Data Points: Steve and Michelle DeMers (District Assessment Coordinator) noted that additional data points, including ACT, MCAs, attendance, MS/HS course grade data, etc. will be available during the summer months after the school year concludes.

I.    196Online Update: Jenny Huling shared an updater and overview of the development, mission, program goals and learning structure for 196Online; which is the district’s online learning option for families for 2021-22. Link to the power point I.    196Online

I.    2021-22 Assessment Schedule and Requirements: The Comprehensive Assessment Matrix, which is required by state statute, was briefly reviewed. Click on the link below to access the testing schedule. Please email Michelle DeMers if you have any related questions. Note: Items in pink are under discussion as of this time. Sarah Novak made a motion to accept the current draft of the Comprehensive Assessment Matrix and Testing Schedule to the 2021-22 school year. Gary Dion seconded the motion.

I.    Thank you to outgoing CIAC Members: Thank you to Robin Cerio, Rebecca Chamberlain, Heather Guerrero, Jeff Little, Joseph Miller, Michael Nehring, and Sara Novak for completing their first term (three years) as CIAC members. Also thank you to our students Ankitha Kumar, Joey Anderson, Arie Moussougan, Mohamed
Maxamed and Lisa Eidum. In addition, a special thank you goes out to this year’s chairperson, Lisa Eidum.

CIAC Meetings for 2021--22: September 20 and November 1, 2021; February 28 and April 18, 2022 All meetings are 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the District Office at 3455 153rd Street West, Rosemount 55068.
