Native American Parent Advisory Committee
The Native American Parent Advisory Committee’s (NAPAC) purpose is to serve in an advisory capacity for planning and implementing programs and events that support District 196 American Indian students and their families. NAPAC membership consists of parents and/or guardians of identified American Indian students in District 196, secondary student representatives and district teacher representatives. All students representatives are required to have a 506 form on file.

NAPAC ELECTION NOTICE:
District 196's Native American Parent Advisory Committee is conducting their annual board election. Elected committee members serve as a voice for Indigenous students and families and they offer crucial advice on the services ISD 196's American Indian Education (AIE) Program provides. On Monday, March 30, the AIE Program will begin accepting nominations for open board positions.
Nomination Period: Monday, March 30 - Friday, April 10, 2026
The following positions are up for election this school year:
Vice Chairperson (2-year term)
- Parent or guardian of an American Indian student in District 196
- Must have a completed 506 form for their child(ren) on file with AIE program
Secretary (2-year term)
- Parent or guardian of an American Indian student in District 196
- Must have a completed 506 form for their child(ren) on file with AIE program
Teacher/Counselor (1-year term)
- Must work in a District 196 school
Student Representative (1-year term)
- Must be entering grade 6-12 for the following school year
- Must have a completed 506 form on file with AIE program

Eligible voters must have a 506 form on file for their child(ren) with the AIE program in order to vote for the Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and Student Representative positions. If you are unsure if you do, please call American Indian Education staff. Student Representatives must also have a 506 form on file with the American Indian Education Office
