District 196 earned the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for the district’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for fiscal year 2023. The Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting is ASBO's highest recognition of school district financial operations. The program reviews and critiques district accounting practices and recognizes school districts that meet or exceed the program’s high financial reporting and accountability standards. 

“Every member of our Finance Department played a part in receiving this recognition,” said Superintendent Michael Bolsoni. “We are a large, complex organization — yet each year, our finance team employs systems and controls to ensure we adhere to the highest standards in government accounting, budget allocation, monitoring, and reporting. There’s a commitment to integrity in our financial practices.”
