Vote Early!

Beginning Sept. 19, voters can vote early by mail, or in person at one of the following locations:

  • 196 School District Offices: 3455 153rd Street West, Rosemount, MN 55068

  • Dakota County Western Service Center: 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley, MN 55124

  • Dakota County Administration Center: 1590 Hwy 55, Hastings, MN 55033

Beginning Oct. 17, the Dakota County Western Service Center and Dakota County Administrative Center locations will offer “direct balloting,” which allows voters to request an absentee ballot in person and place their completed ballot in a tabulator, like they would on Election Day.

To receive a ballot to vote early by mail, voters may complete an absentee ballot request form online. Voters do not need a reason to vote by absentee ballot.

Paper absentee ballot applications are also available and may be submitted to Dakota County by any of the following methods:

  • Mail to:

Administration Center
Attn: Elections
1590 Highway 55
Hastings, MN 55033-2343

  • Email scanned document to elections@co.dakota.mn.us
  • Fax to 651-438-4391
  • Bring the application to a county service center.

Absentee ballot applications may also be returned to the School District Office, or emailed to elections@district196.org.

For more information about voting early, please see additional guidance from Dakota County and the Minnesota Secretary of State.

Election Day Voting

Voters can also cast their ballot on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at their designated school district combined polling place. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. To find your polling place, go to www.mnvotes.org. Please note that District 196 uses combined precincts, so your polling place may be at a different location than you used for the 2024 general election.

In order to vote in this election, you must be:

  • At least 18 years old on Election Day;
  • A citizen of the United States;
  • A resident of MN for 20 days immediately preceding election day;
  • A District 196 resident;
  • Not under a court order that revokes your right to vote;
  • Not currently incarcerated for a conviction of a felony offense

Go to mnvotes.org to register to vote or to check your voter registration status. Pre-registration ends 21 days before the election, but voters can still register at the polls on election day.
