1. High School Coaches
1.1 Coaches whose teams are not directly involved in a state tournament will be allowed to attend the state tournament in their respective sport for one-half day.
1.1.1 If the state tournament lasts for more than one session, no more than three coaches may attend the same session.
1.1.2 If the state tournament is only one session, a maximum of three coaches may attend.
1.1.3 The district will pay for tickets, mileage, and a substitute teacher when arrangements cannot be made within the building for supervision of the coach's classes, within the guidelines set in Administrative Regulation 405.8AR, Travel and Related Expenses.
1.1.4 All meals and other individual expenses will be paid by the coach.
1.1.5 All attendance by coaches at state tournaments in which they are not participating shall have the prior approval of the building principal.
1.2 When a District 196 high school team is participating in a state tournament, all coaches from that sport will be allowed to attend all sessions in which the team (not individuals) is participating.
1.2.1 When a high school is participating in a state tournament with individual entrants, the entrants will be accompanied by the appropriate varsity coaches.
1.2.2 The district will pay for tickets, meals, and mileage for all coaches involved with their teams or with individual entrants, within the guidelines set in Administrative Regulation 604.1.1AR, Tournament Participation by Students, Administrative Regulation 405.8AR, Travel and Related Expenses, and Administrative Regulation 402.3.3.1AR, Compensation for Event Workers.
2. Middle School Coaches
2.1 A head coach and an assistant coach will be allowed to attend the state tournament in their respective sport for one-half day.
2.2 No more than two coaches may attend the same session.
2.3 Attendance at the state tournament by middle school coaches will be at no expense to the district. The district will not hire a substitute, buy tickets, pay mileage or pay for meals.
2.4 All attendance by middle school coaches at state tournaments shall have the prior approval of the building principal.
3. Other Staff
3.1 Staff members not attending a state tournament game in which their building is a participant are expected to perform their duties in their home building.
3.2 Other staff absences when a District 196 school is a participant in a state tournament are to be arranged with the immediate supervisor or principal. No time is expected to be lost to the district nor are substitute workers to be hired.
