School Nurse

Woodland Elementary has a nurse in the building for 7 hours per day. Her hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Good health is basic to sound education and productive living. The purpose of the school health program is to maintain, improve and promote the health of the school-age child.

Medications

Pupils requiring medication at school shall be identified by parent and/or physician to the school nurse. Before the nurse can administer any medication to a student, the following must be provided by the parent or guardian:

  • Signed authorization from the student's parent or guardian.
  • Prescription medications in the pharmacy labeled bottle.
  • Non-prescription medications in the original container.
  • A written physician's order for medication to be taken for longer than 2 weeks.

Health Screening

Hearing screening - K, 1st, 2nd, and 4th
Vision screening -1st, 3rd, and 5th
Screening procedures may also be requested anytime there is a concern by parent or teacher. Parents should feel free to contact the school nurse regarding health or health concerns for their child(ren).
