The VMS summer mailing will be sent out the
first week of August.

All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to:

  • Meet Teachers & Locate Classrooms
  • Locate lockers & try locker combinations
  • Turn in forms and pick up schedules
  • Have school pictures taken
  • Sign up for the VMS and District list serves with backpack Online
  • Sign up for the raffle and stop by the concession stand for some refreshments

Complete and turn in the following forms from the summer mailing (Please note that some of the forms are also downloadable from this site):

The following items will be available to purchase:

  • VMS Daily Planners $7.00
  • Yearbooks

Also available August 20th:

  • VMS Clothing Sales (Sweatshirts, T-shirts, Embroidery, and now hats)
  • Fall Sports Registrations (7th & 8th graders) $50.00
  • Food Service (make deposit into lunch account)
  • Immunizations for 7th grade students

Separate checks MUST be paid for each item!

 

New Student/Family Orientation

If you registered during the summer or were unable to attend the spring orientation activities, please join the counselors (Linda Prince A – L and John Brickner M – Z) for one of the following orientation sessions in Lecture Room A during the Back-to-School Open House:

12:00 – 12:30 4:00 – 4:30 6:00 – 6:30

The Special Education Team will host informational sessions in Lecture Room A for special education students and their parents:

2:30 – 3:00 and 5:30 – 6:00

Sports Physicals and Immunization Records

ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS

Students in 7th and 8th grade who will be participation in sports this school year MUST have sports physical form on file with the school. If your child has a sports physical form on file from last year, they do not need a new one.

Sports physicals are being offered at Park Nicollet clinic in Burnsville from 8:00am – 11am on the following Saturdays, August 2nd, August 23rd, and September 6th, 1400 Fairview Dr., next to Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville. The cost is $20.00.

Fall sports begin on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 starting at 3:10 pm – 4:45 pm. Fall sports consist of Football, Boys and Girls Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Girls Tennis, Boys and Girls Cross Country.

Immunizations shot records DO NOT qualify as a sports physical. Immunizations shot records must be kept on file with the school nurse. 7th grade students are required by Minnesota State Law to have a 2nd MMR vaccine, Td booster and the Hepatitis B vaccine(s) prior to entering 7th grade.

Students and parents who are unable to attend our Back-to-School Open House on August 20th, may turn in completed forms and receive schedules in the VMS office from August 21st – August 29th, 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Please think of Valley Middle School when those early magazine renewal notices start to arrive in your mail! By waiting to renew through our school fundraiser, your service will still be uninterrupted. Our magazine fundraiser kickoff is Thursday, September 7th, 2006.
