Neither late April snow or long distance parking could ruin the Thomas Lake Carnival!
We raised $8000 to help support our school programs. We plan to purchase recess equipment and books for our Resource Room.
Poetry Month at Thomas Lake
April was poetry month at Thomas Lake Elementary. During April, 5th grade students were engaged in writing poems to fill pizza pockets on the bulletin board that others could read and deliver the poems to individuals.
On their way to recess, students were encouraged to write or select a poem and turn it into a placemat for Meals on Wheels. Within one week, 100 placemats were made and given to the Meals on Wheels program. Just think how a beautiful placemat and poem brightened someone's day. Thank you to all who made a placemat.
Poem in your Pocket Day was celebrated on April 19th. Everyone in the school was encouraged to have a poem in their pocket. It could be a poem they wrote or one of their choosing. Great fun was had trading poems throughout the day. Poetry month brings poetry alive and encourages students to write creatively.
