Third grade is a transition year between primary and intermediate education. Students will explore new subject areas through traditional, inquiry, and experiential learning methods. Building upon the foundation started in earlier grades, students cross the bridge from learning to read to reading to learn. It is a time of growing independence and accountability.

Third graders are enthusiastic about many new activities. Stepping into a third grade classroom you might catch student's excitement about writing in cursive, the challenge of learning new multiplication facts, or investigating magnets and electricty.
