This
is a district-wide program that helps students find solutions
to problems by having peers act as mediators. The mediation
is always done under the direction of an adult and with two
peer mediators. This type of mediation is a way for students
to cooperatively work out conflicts with the mediators.
Students are selected to be mediators by a process that involves
other fourth grade students, teachers, the principal, and
the school psychologist. Fourth graders are trained in the
spring so they are ready to go in the fall.
