The School Psychologist is a member of the special education staff who works with students, parents and teachers in a variety of capacities.

The School Psychologist’s role includes assessment for special education eligibility, involving finding strengths and weaknesses, determining what needs the student has, and helping to plan programs for the students who qualify for services. The psychologist is also the service provider for students with emotional and behavioral concerns, as well as for some students who are classified as: Other Health Disabled or Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The School Psychologist is also involved in:

 

•intervention planning and implementation
•consultation with parents and teachers
•crisis prevention and intervention
•direct support services for students who show a recognized educational need for a higher level of emotional/behavioral intervention.
•as well as being a resource to parents and school staff for many psychological, developmental, and educational issues.
