education programs are available at Southview
for students who qualify for services. The
students may be referred for an evaluation
by our Child Study Team by a teacher or a parent.
After an assessment is completed, the parents
and the appropriate staff meet to review the
assessment results and determine if special
education services are needed. Parent involvement
and input in this process are essential and they
are involved in all decisions regarding their child.
Students may qualify for Specific Learning Disabilities
(SLD) when:A
severe discrepancy is indicated between ability
and achievement, a history of under achievement
is documented and an information processing
deficit is apparent. |
