Marlys Bayse and Liz Murphy provide small group support to students needing a little extra help in reading or math in the Basic Skills Program. The Basic Skills teachers provide reinforcement and practice of concepts that have been presented in the classroom. They also focus on more individualized instruction and organization. Each teacher provides small group support for one to three students at a time. Occasionally, they arrange to co-teach in the classroom to provide assistance to students who need further practice and instruction. Students are chosen for the program based on teacher referrals and standardized testing. Students can exit the program as they reach the reading or math goal the teachers have set.
