In this exciting season, we are remembering those less fortunate by contributing to Community Action Program for our Shannon Park service project. All donations need to be a school by Friday, December 4th. If you would like to participate the grade levels will be donating the following:
Kindergarten & 1st Grade-non-perishable food items.
2nd Grade-Holiday kit items for Armful of Love
3rd Grade-money for grocery certificates for Armful of Love
4th & 5th Grades-gift certificates for groceries and other items for Armful of Love.
MCA-III
Math Field Test
Many schools and districts have been asked by the Minnesota Department of Education to participate in this fall's field test. All elementary schools in District 196 have at least one grade level participating in the opportunity. Teachers and students will get their first look at the innovative items being developed for this test which is scheduled for next year. This field test will take place the week of November 30-Decemember 4th.

Acts of Character Program
During the month of November, we will be focusing on the Shannon Park Expectation ““Be Cooperative”
The character traits of Enthusiasm, Thankfulness and Gratitude.
On Veterans Day our school honored our heroes. Brent Straub, a Shannon Park graduate, spoke at the program along with Mark Weber, a Shannon Park parent and Major in the Army. Brent displayed his Purple Heart medal.
District 196 Community Education is offering a Reading, Writing and Recalling Facts class for students in grades 1-5 on Tuesday, November 24 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Falcon Ridge Middle School. Participants will learn various strategies to help with reading, spelling, writing and recalling facts. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend with their child at no charge.
