HOUSE 62

OPEN HOUSE is on Thursday, September 17th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Scott Highlands. Parents and guardians should attend! Please bring with you your student's yellow schedule that you will be following for the evening. You will visit your child's classes, learn about what is going on in the classroom and have a chance to ask questions. It is important for you to attend. Click here for a copy of the information packet you will receive.

WELCOME to Scott Highlands Middle School! We are very excited to start a great new year of school as your House 62 teachers. Please use your teacher's individual webpages to get more information about what is going on in class, from classroom calendards, homework PDF assignments, great links, and much more. Make sure to use Moodle and SchoolView frequently. These two sources are important ways to help you do well in school.

SCHOOLVIEW is up and running. SchoolView is an on-line way for you and your parents to check your grades for each class. Your parents should have signed up for a SchoolView account at Jamboree. If not, they need to contact Mr. Jim Peterson at 952.423.7581 or jim.peterson@district196.org. As teachers, we assume you and your parents are monitoring this account on a regular basis.

Ms. Alexander I'm Nancy Alexander. This is my second year here at SHMS. I'm very glad to be here! I think ART ROCKS! Creating and teaching art is tremendous fun for me. I'm a people person and I love to work with kids! My family and I enjoy reading, the outdoors, and fishing, especially up north. My husband, 18-year-old son, and I live with our two cuddly Springer Spaniels. Brownie is smart and sweet, and Elskan (Icelandic for "Dear One") is a naughty little darling.

Mr. Blaine Hello, I'm Kerry Blaine. I will be teaching House 62 students during Trimester 1 for Tech-Ed. Welcome!

Mr. DravisMy name is Greg Dravis. I am a physical education teacher here at Scott Highlands Middle School. Physical fitness is very important to me. Welcome to Scott Highlands Middle School!

Ms. Hoffmann My name is Jane Hoffmann and I teach American Studies 6, Study Skills 6, and General Music 6. My family consists of my husband and our two dogs, Bingo and Baily. This will be my 25th year of teaching at Scott Highlands. Yes, I’m that old! When I ‘m not teaching, I sing professionally, write books for children (31 published so far), and I’m working on a children’s novel about animals living in a science lab at an elementary school. See you in class!

Mrs. Hovde My name is Colleen Hovde and I teach English 6 and Reading 6. I live in Apple Valley with my husband and our twin fourth graders. This is my fifth year teaching at SHMS and I just love it here. Our family is very involved in Eastview athlectics as both kids play in a number of sports. This fall and winter we will be spending quite a bit of time at the hockey arena – a sport we all enjoy. When I have some time to myself I enjoy reading, golfing, and spending time catching up with friends at Caribou.

Mrs. King Hi! I’m Susan King, Gifted and Talented Coordinator at Scott Highlands Middle School who, as a former English and communications teacher, has now spent the last 13 years serving the needs of our gifted, talented, and exceptionally conscientious adolescents at Scott Highlands Middle School. After leaving my dream job each day, I’m blessed to go home to a wonderful husband and children who are now grown, out of the home and raising families of their own. Of special importance to me presently are my three grand daughters with two more on the way next year; incidentally, by June 2009, I will have five grandchildren under the age of three! Zowie! I also enjoy theater, dance, music, pilates and yoga. A favorite novel of mine is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn; and, lastly, a professional quote that speaks for me from the heart is: “No significant learning can take place without a significant relationship.”

Mrs. Nickleby Hello, I am a Physical Education teacher here at SHMS. This is my first year of teaching at Scott Highlands Middle School, but I have taught Phy-Ed in many other school districts as well. I am excited to be here.

Ms. TenClayHi, I'm Karla TenClay. I teach 6th grade Science and Math at Scott Highlands. In addition to teaching 6th grade, I also coach girls' soccer and plan the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade parties. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy being outdoors - whether it's out on the lake during the summer or snowboarding in the winter. I keep busy hanging out with my family and friends. Welcome to Scott Highlands!
