OPEN HOUSE is on Thursday, September 17th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Scott Highlands. Parents and guardians should attend! Please bring with you your student's yellow schedule that you will be following for the evening. You will visit your child's classes, learn about what is going on in the classroom and have a chance to ask questions. It is important for you to attend. Click here for a copy of the information packet you will receive.

WELCOME to Scott Highlands Middle School. Please visit individual teacher's websites to get more information about what is going on in class, classroom calendars, and other helpful material. Make sure to use Moodle and SchoolView frequently to be successful in school.

SCHOOLVIEW is up and running. SchoolView is an on-line way for you and your parents to check your grades for each class. Your parents should have signed up for a SchoolView account at Jamboree. If not, they need to contact Mr. Jim Peterson at 952.423.7581 or jim.peterson@district196.org. As teachers, we assume you and your parents are monitoring this account on a regular basis.

Ms. King Hi! I’m Susan King, Gifted and Talented Coordinator at Scott Highlands Middle School who, as a former English and communications teacher, has now spent the last 13 years serving the needs of our gifted, talented, and exceptionally conscientious adolescents at Scott Highlands Middle School. After leaving my dream job each day, I’m blessed to go home to a wonderful husband and children who are now grown, out of the home and raising families of their own. Of special importance to me presently are my three grand daughters with two more on the way next year; incidentally, by June 2009, I will have five grandchildren under the age of three! Zowie! I also enjoy theater, dance, music, pilates and yoga. A favorite novel of mine is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn; and, lastly, a professional quote that speaks for me from the heart is: “No significant learning can take place without a significant relationship.”

Ms. Leland This year is my 28th at SHMS, where I have taught everything from Spanish to Reading to Study Skills to English to my absolute favorite, American Studies. My family and I run into former students everywhere, which is a lot of fun. I live in Apple Valley with my husband, two children, and two cats, to which I am allergic. My daughter just graduated from college, and my son is a sophomore at UW-LaCrosse. A highlight from this summer was traveling in Europe with my daughter for 12 days. Other interests include reading and walking with my husband.
