Rosemount High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris Swansson as the new varsity baseball coach. He takes over for Trevor Monroe who resigned last month.
Coach Swansson was a three sport standout at Woodbury High School in football, basketball and baseball. He was all conference in all three sports. In baseball he was named all region, all-state honorable mention and to the all metro team as an outfielder. He also played in the Lions All Star Game after his senior year.
After high school he went to Gustavus College and focused on football and baseball. He was an all conference receiver in football. In baseball he was a four year starter, a captain, named an all conference outfielder in the MIAC and graduated holding 11 school records. Some of his records included career RBI’s, career stolen bases and most doubles in a season. After graduating he was selected from a five state region to play on a team called USA Athletes International where they played in a tournament in Prague.
He was also the varsity baseball assistant coach at Edina High School for six years before joining the Rosemount Varsity staff for the past four years where he helped the Irish get to three section finals and one trip to the state tourney. In addition, he coached the VFW teams in Edina and Rosemount for six years.
Coach Swansson says, “I am proud to be part of the tradition of excellence of Irish baseball and look forward to building upon past success.”
Chris teaches AP Psychology and Developmental Psychology at Rosemount High School and he lives in Rosemount with his wife, Corene and his two children, Chance and Kylie.
