The School Social Worker provides proactive educational support, as well as individual and group supportive services to help students overcome barriers to learning. The School Social Worker works directly with individual students, students in small groups, and in the classroom settings. We work to enhance students’ social and emotional skills, teach problem solving skills, help individuals cope with family changes and loss, teach anger management coping strategies and address depression and anxiety concerns. We also work to empower our students to respect themselves and others.

The overall goal is to work directly with students and their families, teachers, and other support staff to reduce barriers to academic success. The School Social Worker also consults and advocates for families regarding parenting strategies, connects families with community resources and assists families in times of crisis.
