PTO - Volunteer Opportunities

The PTO coordinates several events throughout the year, in which, volunteers are needed. Below is a listing of the various opportunities available at Parkview. Contact information for each opportunity is listed, if available. Otherwise, feel free to contact one of the PTO board members with your information.

Fundraisers

Book Fairs
Thousands of high quality, low priced Scholastic books will be available for purchase during the book fairs at Parkview. Volunteers help set-up the fair, help customers find books, use cash registers to complete sales, and take down the fairs. Volunteer shifts are typically 2 hours.

Craft Nights
The PTO partners with Michaels Arts and Crafts one night in November for a family craft night. Volunteers help distribute the craft supplies and take money for the different crafts offered by Michaels. Volunteers work from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Culver's Day
Culverís sets aside one day each month as Parkview Day. Volunteers sit at the Parkview table from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Culverís while kids sign up to win prizes for the monthly drawing. Culverís Days are listed on our school calendar or the website.

Kathryn Beich
Parkviewís biggest fundraiser! Volunteers will help collect and verify order sheets and distribute orders. Order sheets will be collected by September 25th. Verification of orders will be made during the first week of October. Orders will be delivered on November 13th.

Lifetouch Pictures
Volunteers help students and photographers prepare for class pictures in the Fall and Spring. Pictures will take place in September and April.

Purchase your Parkview Spirit Wear during Open House and the Spring Carnival.

Dad's Day
The PTO sets aside one day each school year as Dadís Day. Dadís are encouraged to visit their childís classroom, eat lunch and play out at recess. Volunteers help sign Dadís in at Parkview and help them find their childís classroom. Shifts are two hours each beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Garden
Volunteers help maintain the flower gardens at Parkview by weeding and mulching beds on an ongoing basis.

Junior Great Books
Volunteers are trained to become Junior Great Book Leaders. Junior Great Books classes meet once a week for ten weeks in January, February, and March.

Welcome Desk
Greet visitors from the welcome desk at Parkview during special events (Grandparents Day, field trips, elections, etc.).

Yearbook
Volunteers take pictures during the school year at Parkview and help the staff assemble pictures for the yearbook.

Conference Meals
Help prepare dinner for the Parkview staff during fall and winter conferences. Volunteers provide water, pop, salads, desserts, and other entrees as directed by the meal coordinator. Conferences are in October and February.
