Updates:
Stable District Enrollment and Staffing
John reports a great start to the school year with actual enrollment higher than projected and increases at each grade level. We are stable in the following areas Enrollment, Staff and Finance.

“Serving all or part of …Farmington!”
We were recently informed that the city of Farmington has annexed a parcel of land from Empire Township. The 80-acre parcel was already in our district and is currently undeveloped. So, even though there are no students currently living on the property, the annexation allows us to include Farmington in the list of cities and townships currently served by District 196.

Online Payment Fees
The district will soon offer parents the ability to pay for lunches, co curricular activities and other fees online. This service will be offered through TIES which is the information services system used throughout our district. Parent Leaders were asked about this option last year and shared with John that it would be a valuable service for parents, but they were adamant that any service charges should be up front and not hidden in fees. There will be a 4.29 percent service charge on all transactions but this charge will be noted before payment is submitted online. Parents will still be able to make payments by check and cash if they choose.

Parent Notification System
Snow days: You will not receive a school closing via email anymore. Check with the district Web page or the Media to see when school has been closed.

Quality Compensation (Q Comp)
The 30 Q Comp peer leaders have been meeting and training and are very excited to get started. John feels Q Comp will significantly improve instruction in our district. We will hear more about this as the year progresses.

Meeting adjourned at 7:25 pm
Next Meeting is November 13, 2007
Topic: Family Craft Night.
