Treasurer’s Report: We are still on track with budget as previously discussed based on projected expenses. We have a lot of T-shirts left ($4,260 purchased and $2,648 sold) so we are hoping that we will sell a lot more of them. It was suggested to have a booth set up with t-shirts at the conferences. Motion to approve. Seconded. Approved.
President’s Report:
Gold C did well this year considering the slight reduction in student enrollment. We made about $8500.00-8600 overall which is only slightly down from last year. The final figures are still being tallied. Any child selling 3 or more books received prizes for their effort. Those earning $25.00 gift certificates were Jarrett H, Kaylianna F, Evan R, Johnathan L, Oma R, Ryan F, and Maria C. The winners of the Radio/CD player were Caitlynn R, Nichols H, and Brady J. The winners of the boom box were Kailee B and Craig S. The winner of the 1 night stay at the Great Wolf in Wisconsin Dells was Conner E, a kindergartner. One child sold 27 books! (Way to Go!!)
Sally Foster giftwrap sales are underway and are due on October 25th.
Wendy’s Night will be the second Wednesday of the month at Rosemount. A note went home with students today to explain the change in schedule. Due to a scheduling error there will be no Wendy’s Night in November.
Culvers Day is the first Monday of the month. Please make sure you let people know about this. We have only made $80.00 to date on this event. We would like to have a volunteer take this over to assist in publicizing the fundraiser.
Gym Night was successful. We had 30-40 kids there. There is no Gym Night scheduled for this month but we do have nights scheduled as follows: December 13th, January 14th, February 17th, and March 14th.
Volunteer Update: Barnes and Noble Day will be on December 14th at the Apple Valley location. It is an all day event. We receive a portion of sales made by Parkview supporters. The last event brought in approx. $100.00.
Spring Event is still up in the air. We are looking for a coordinator.
Campbell Soup Labels needs a coordinator.
A note will be sent home regarding open volunteer positions.
Thank you to all of you that have volunteered for the open positions.
Principal’s Report:
Plans are underway for the four room addition and the new media center. Some of the preliminary sketches show an area off of the library where a classroom could come and work on research skills while another class is being held in the library. There would also be a reading area with carpeted stairs and platform that could be used for multi-purpose reading and instruction. Next year at this time we will be in the midst of major construction so we will need to come up with a plan for temporary classrooms. The Advisory Committee will be helping with the planning.
We want to thank everyone for their support of the Peter and Emily Olson family (children Hudson D 3rd grade, Hattie D 2nd grade, and Landon 8 months) were affected by the total loss of their home in a fire. As a school there are efforts to assist them as sponsored by the PTO. Connie Welp and Judy Berg will spearhead the efforts and will be open to suggestions and help to raise donations for the family. An impromptu bagging was done at Cub Foods and over $1000.00 was earned.
The next bagging day at Cub Foods will be on October 30th. We would like to run 2 hour shifts throughout the day. Please contact Judy Berg if you are interested.
Thank you to Dallen Schnichels for coordinating the Gold C fundraiser. Dallen hand-delivered the incentives to the classrooms, the students were VERY excited to see the rewards of their efforts.
2004-2005 Budget Plan:
Review of the new budget was covered. A note was made that the budget was based on projected earnings on our fundraisers. There were no questions in regard to the plan. It was moved to approve the budget. Seconded. Approved. The second vote will take place at the November meeting.
Next Meeting: November 16, 2004 at 6:30pm at Parkview Library.
Meeting Adjourned: Seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:02 pm.
