Grade Three Music Concert
On December 9, Parkview third grade students performed their annual music concert. The concert featured choral singing and student-performed instrumental accompaniments. The students have been learning to use percussion instruments created by German composer Carl Orff. These instruments, that look like xylophones, feature removable bars that allow educators to focus on particular tones. If you'd like to learn more about Mr. Orff, take a look at the German homepage dedicated to him or his biography at Wikipedia, or instead, just view the video of the students' performance of "Skin and Bones." The entire program is available for download (275MB) in the iTunes video format for use with iTunes on any computer, or on your iPod or iPhone.

Grandparents' Day in First Grade

Here at Parkview, the day before Thanksgiving brings thoughts of turkey dinner, but it also brings grandparents! The First Grade team sponsored Grandparents' Day again this year, which featured songs and activities that the students could share with a visiting grandparent, relative, or adult friend. The event brought in lots of visitors and created even more smiles. To share a bit in the day, take a look at a video of "Over the River" that the students sang that day, or see them sing "Proud to be an American" . You may also download the entire show in iTunes/iPod format (125MB).
