The overall goal of the School Social Work Program is to work with students and their families, teachers, and other support staff to reduce barriers to academic success. The School Social Worker works directly with individual students, students in small groups, and in classroom settings to enhance social and emotional skills, teach problem solving skills, help students cope with family changes and loss, teach anger management coping strategies, and to help students respect themselves and others.
The School Social Worker also consults and advocates for families regarding parenting strategies, connects families with community resources and assists families in times of crisis. For more information on the Social Work Services Program please go to the District 196 Web Site
