The Oak Ridge first through fifth grade students come to art class once a week. The class period is 50 minutes in length.

We use the Adventures in Art curriculum which weaves together the four essentials of learning in art: creative expression, art history, art criticism, and aesthetic perception. The students experiment with a variety of two-dimensional and three-dimensional mediums which sequentially build a knowledge of the design elements:

    * space

and design principles:

    * balance
    * emphasis
    * movement
    * pattern
    * proportion
    * rhythm
    * unity
