Media Center
NewsTeam Reporters
Morning announcements are made at the beginning of each school day via the intercom from the media center. Important information is communicated to the staff and students of Northview about the cycle day, weather, and lunch menu for the day. The reporter also leads the school in The Pledge of Allegiance. The NewsTeam reporters are fifth graders who have been selected from each homeroom, one reporter for each day of the week.
Campbell’s Soup Labels/Kemps Bottle Caps/Box Tops The Northview PTA collects these items for redeeming into cash and/or products for our school! The containers to hold each particular item are in the media center. Don’t throw these things away. Support Northview and bring them to the media center!
Fall Book Fair at Barnes and Noble
Each fall, the media center sponsors a book fair held at the Eagan Barnes and Noble bookstore. This event supports and encourages our Northview all-stars’ love of reading. All profits are used for purchasing current titles and materials for the school’s media center.
I Love to Read Month
February is a nationwide celebration of reading. We join in the fun at Northview in a variety of ways:
- Paperback book swap - Students have the opportunity to exchange gently used paperback books from their own collection for paperbacks brought in by other students.
- Guest readers – We invite guest readers from the district or from the community to share their love of reading with a classroom read aloud.
Author Visit
We are fortunate to have Northview PTA sponsor an author visit to our school each year. This is a great opportunity for our primary grade students to make connections with their evolving writing process.
Visit from the Public Library
A representative from the Wescott Public Library visits Northview near the end of each school year to help promote their summer reading program. This is a great way to help encourage our all-stars to continue to read during the summer months.
