We work together as a team to ensure growth academically and personally for your child. We help develop or strengthen his/her organization and responsibility skills that will be beneficial throughout the school years.
Morning consists of classes in Science, Social Studies, or Health, Math, and Specialist areas.
Afternoons are spent with Language Arts-Reading, Writing, and Cursive. We believe in reading aloud daily, as well as finding time for your child to read independently each day. We work on summarizing, connecting to literature, finding great literature at our own reading level.
Please see the curriculum frameworks under the district website for further details.
In the fall we tour Fort Snelling to help us learn about our community's history. In the spring we enjoy a Children's Theater performance, as well as tour the Minneapolis Institute of Art. The students love to see the artwork that our Picture Person taught us about throughout the year.
We encourage families to start setting aside time to form good work habits at home, allowing at least 30 minutes for work each night at home, ranging from incomplete work to practicing facts, or reading.
We love to have our parents volunteer in the classroom, and believe the family and school connection is very important to your child's success at school.
