Concepts Taught

Sings with a healthy voice (finds singing voice, demonstrates posture and breathing) Demonstrates group singing skills (simple unison)
Sings so mi la (uses solfege) Plays with correct instrument technique (unpitched percussion)
Plays independently and with a group (steady beat and tempo) Uses moveable do to read and write melodic patterns (high/low) lines/spaces
Reads and writes rhythmic patterns (quarter, eighth notes, quarter rest) Identifies staff and repeat symbols
Aurally recognizes form (AB, same different, phrases or sections) Aurally identifies musical timbres (men’s, women’s, kids voices)
Aurally recognizes melodic contour (high/low, melodic contour) Aurally recognizes short and long
Aurally recognizes fast and slow (tempo)
