The second grade students had a mystery to solve! Mrs. Jensen's cabinet keys went missing at the same time Mrs. Luedtke's dog was gone. Her dog came back inside with dirt all over him. That dirt was our first clue. After observing the look, feel, smell and color of the dirt, students had to decide where that type of dirt could be found. Each class picked five locations around the schoolyard to sample. The samples were analyzed also for look, feel, smell and color to try to find a match. A final test was done to add water to each sample in a vial to see what layers appeared. The match was found in all classes in the forest. Thanks to the second grade classes Mrs. Jensen was able to find her keys!
