 PARENT INFORMATION

Perspectives on Parenting, a year-long series of forums for parents, is presenting “EVHS: The State of the School” on Monday, October 8 at 7:00 pm in the EVHS Media Center.  Meet Dr. Randy Peterson, EVHS’s new principal and learn about “The State of Eastview High School.”  Find out about our learning community and hear about Dr. Peterson’s vision for the future as we continue on our “Journey to Extraordinary.” 

 

School Picture proofs – Information regarding viewing and ordering your proofs has been mailed to your home.  You will receive a personal access code in the mail to view and order your student’s pictures online.  Retakes will take place on October 8.  Please bring your proof packet to retakes. The School Store is open for business.  Stop down and visit us before school or the first 20 minutes of hours one thru four.  We will have new apparel items coming in all next week, including homecoming t-shirts which will be on sale for $12.00.  The school store is located in east end of the commons.  Don’t miss out!!

 

There will be a meeting for anyone interested in the boys or girls District 196 Alpine Ski Team this winter.  The meeting will be held tonight at 7:00 pm in Lecture Room A at Eagan High School. Parents and athletes should attend.  Prior racing experience is not required.  Feel free to contact Eastview Captains, Hannah Newman or Clinton Spohn, or Coach Loeffler with any questions.

The School Store is now open on the east end of the Commons.  Homecoming t-shirts will be available at the school store for $12.  We are open before school, the first 20 minutes of hours one thru four.  For the next week, we will also be open during lunch to sell homecoming t-shirts and Eastview apparel.   Stop down and check it out. 

 

EVHS Students:  Enter the Eye on EVHS contest and win prizes, every month, all year! Entry forms can be found in the Main Office or the Attendance Office. Decorate an Eye, and answer 4 questions. September winners will be announced this Friday!

 

New students to Eastview are invited to gather at the end of the day this week.  Information about intramurals and other activities will be shared as well as cookies and juice to give you a chance to see other faces new to the school.  Passes will be delivered to your seventh hour teacher.  Please check in with the Student Services Office if a pass fails to make it to your class.  Schedule follows:

COLLEGEAND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                                                                         

The Explorers group has many opportunities for students to explore various careers.  Students interested in a career in the medical field may attend an open house on October 8 at Fairview Ridges Hospital. Call 952-892-2390 for details.  Students interested in animal care may attend a meeting on Monday, October 8 at the Minnesota Valley Humane Society.  See Guidance Office for flyers on all these meetings.

 

SENIORS!!!!   ACT has extended their regular registration deadline to October 5!!!!!!  

 

Juniors:   The MN House of Representatives is accepting applications for the High School Page Program.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

 

A representative from Northern Michigan University will be in the Career Center today during 3rd hour.

 

A representative from Kenyon College will be in the Career Center today during 4th hour.

 

A representative from Iowa State University will be in the Career Center tomorrow during 6th hour.

 

A representative from Century College will be in the Career Center on Friday, October 5 during 4th hour.

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                                

IM Badminton starts today from 7:00-9:00 pm.

Attention students – This is your last chance to buy STORM FRONT t-shirts this year!  They are being sold during lunch in the East Commons.  During the day on Friday, wear your class color for Color Day, but on Friday night at the football game EVERYONE WEARS BLACK and helps to cheer-on the Lightning to a victory over Chaska!

 

All 9th Grade Softball players – The annual fall kick-off meeting for you and your parents will be held this Sunday night at 5:00 pm in Room C250.  It’s a chance to meet the coaches and captains and learn a bit about Eastview softball.  Please see Coach Haugh if you are unable to attend.

 

There will be a girl’s basketball Open Gym tonight from 7:00 – 8:15 pm in the North Gym.  Contact Coach Goetz if you have questions.

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

Congratulations to the 9A Football team on a 44-6 win over Chaska.  The  team is currently 5-1 and will play Lakeville North at home next Tuesday, October 9, at 4:00 pm.

 

The Boys Varsity Soccer team lost a tough fought game to Eden Prairie last night 3-0.  The game was hanging in the balance until late in the contest when the Eagles scored 2 late goals.  Steven Ducattelli was superb in goal for the Lightning.

 

10A Boys Soccer had a hard fought lost to Eden Prairie 2-1.

 

The Lightning Varsity Girls Soccer team and the Eden Prairie Eagles battled for 90 minutes and the Lightning came out on the short end after the second overtime losing 3-2.  Sara Ake scored the games first goal in the second half off a deflection of an Eden Prairie player.  Eden Prairie countered with the tying and go ahead goal.  Marissa Price then knotted the score off an assist from Brianne Price.  The game ended in a tie in regulation, with Eden Prairie scoring early in the second overtime period for the win.  The Lightning conclude their regular season with a Lake Conference matchup against Eagan at home at 7:00 on Thursday.  This will be Teacher Appreciation night, Community Connections Night where we honor the many organizations and individuals who help make our program so successful, and our Homecoming game. Come on out, we appreciate your support!  

 

Congratulations to the Girls JV Soccer team who came away with a huge win yesterday over Eden Prairie.  The Lightning made a great defensive stand and never let up on the offensive pressure, even through the rain.  The final score was 1-0 and was the 17th win for the JV team.  Wish the ladies luck as they take on the Eagan Wildcats this Thursday!  

 

The 9A Girls Soccer team came back to beat Eagle Ridge after being down 1-0 in the first half.  Courtney Driscoll scored her 6th header goal of the season off a corner kick from Bri MacDonald to tie it 1-1 before the half.  The lightning dominated the second half and earned two more goals which came from MacDonald and Alex Beckman.  With teamwork and perseverance the girls ended the game with a 3-1 win.   The team defeated Bloomington Jefferson last night with a score of 10-0.  Marisa Opheim scored two goals and Bri MacDonald, Quinn Handahl, Erica Schiebel, Lindsey Ruszczyk, Alex Beckman, Dani Glad, Courtney Driscoll, and Kelsey Marti had a goal each.  The team is still undefeated with a record of 15-0-1.  They play their final game this Friday at home against Metcalf.   

 

The Varsity Volleyball team wants to thank all the great fans at the match last night and to celebrate the victory over Rosemount with a final game score of 25 to 8.  It was a great team performance with everyone participating in the victory.

We are home again next Tuesday against Chaska!

 

The 9A and 9B Eastview volleyball teams pulled out victories last night against Bloomington Jefferson.  9B lost their first game 23-25, won their second game 27-25, and won their third game 15-12.  The 9A team won their match in two games.  The scores were 25-15 and 25-9. 

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

If you plan to bring a guest to the Homecoming Dance make sure you pre-register your guest in the Main Office by Friday.

LEAP, Lightning Environmental Awareness Program will be meeting tomorrow at 2:30 in C337 to work on this months service projects: recycling displays and information.  Everyone is welcome! See you there.

 

There will be a brief meeting right after school on Tuesday, October 9, in Room C134 for all students interested in participating on the Math Team this year.  Please see Mr. Haugh in office A110 if unable to attend.

Dunk Tank: At the Homecoming Dance Ticket Table in the Commons during lunch remember to vote by throwing money into the bucket of the teacher or administrator you would most like dunk at the Homecoming Tailgate on Friday. The winner will be announced at the pepfest on Friday.  Students: if you would like to be a dunk tank participant put your name in the dunk tank bucket in the Main Office. A couple of students names will be drawn and announced at the pepfest.

 

Attention students!  Win the opportunity to sit in back of the End Zone during the Homecoming football game on Friday night for you and three of your friends!  Eastview’s National Honor Society is excited to continue the Homecoming tradition of the Sideline Sofa!  Freshmen get the first quarter, Sophomores the second, Juniors the third, and Seniors the fourth!  All you need to do is buy your ticket for $1.00 during lunch throughout the week.  You can buy as many tickets (chances) as you’d like…the more you buy the greater your chances of winning!  Winners will be announced at the Pepfest on Friday – buy your tickets at the NHS table during lunch and good luck!

 

Homecoming Dance tickets will be on sale for $5 at lunch all week. If you purchase your ticket at lunch you will save money. Buying a ticket at the dance will cost $7 or $6 with a canned good.  The dance will be 8:00-11:00 pm on Saturday.
