 PARENT INFORMATION

Perspectives on Parenting presents 3 parenting events this week.  Be sure to put the following on your calendar:

 

 

 

 

The Eastview Fastpitch Softball program is selling holiday poinsettias.  These beautiful plants from Gerten’s are available in a variety of colors and a couple of different sizes, and will be delivered to you before the Thanksgiving holiday break.  Please contact Coach Haugh or a softball player by Monday October 29 if you would like to place an order.

 

Reminder to parents of Girls Tennis Players:  We would like each parent to complete their daughter's poster or memory page.  Please keep Tuesday, October 30 or Thursday, November 11, open as we will have additional sessions those nights

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Seniors: November 1 is the last day to submit Grad Ad orders or Senior Portraits for the yearbook.

 

This is Red Ribbon Week, Eastview!  Red Ribbon week is celebrated in communities around the United States with reminders to teens and their families to make safe decisions especially when it comes to driving, drug use and alcohol use.  Accidents rates are highest for teen drivers.  We want you to make good decisions and to stay safe!

 

COLLEGEAND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                                                                         

Seniors!!!  The Burger King Scholarship application is available at www.bk.com/scholars   Criteria to apply include working  part-time on an average of 15 hours a week anywhere, involved in community service activities and demonstrate financial need.  See Guidance Office for further information.  Applications are available online thru February 15.

 

The Coca-cola Scholarship application deadline is October 30.  Got to www.coca-colascholars.org  to apply.

 

Seniors!!!!   Please periodically check the Naviance Family Connection http://www.district196.org/evhs/academics/information/   website or  the EVHS Guidance Office website http://www.district196.org/evhs/studentservices/guidance/FinancialAid.asp   for scholarships.  If you have any questions, please come to the Guidance Office.

A representative from Minnesota School of Business will be in the Career Center today during 4th hour.

 

A representative from Creighton University will be in the Career Center tomorrow during 6th hour.

 

A representative from Southwest State University-Marshall will be in the Career Center on Monday, October 29 during 2nd hour.

 

A representative from Dakota County Technical College will be in the Career Center on Monday, October 29 during 4th hour.

 

A representative from Wartburg College will be in the Career Center on Monday, October 29at 11:30 a.m. during 5th hour.

 

A representative from the College of St. Scholastica will be in the Career Center on Tuesday, October 30 during 2nd hour.

 

A representative from Minnesota State University-Moorhead will be in the Career Center on Tuesday, October 30 during 3rd hour.

 

A representative from Northwestern College-St. Paul  will be in the Career Center on Tuesday, October 30 during 4th hour.

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                                

There will be an informational 9th Grade Girls Basketball meeting on Monday, October 29 at 2:35 pm in Room C136.  Please contact Coach Goetz with questions.

 

Lightning Dance Team dedicated fan t-shirts are on sale this week. If interested, please find a team member or pick up an order form outside the Dance Studio. Orders are due tomorrow!

 

There will be an FCCLA planning meeting today after school for members interested in working at the parenting conference on Saturday morning. Everyone is welcome to sign up in C138. All members should plan on attending the M&M chapter meeting on November 5 at 7:00 pm.

 

Sophomore Football players are reminded to turn their equipment in after school today followed by the pizza party

 

Presale football tickets for the section playoff game against Prior Lake Saturday at 7:00 pm will be available in the Main Office today and tomorrow until 3:00.  Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens.  District & Lake Conference passes are not accepted for this game.

 

The Boys Soccer Banquet for all teams (9a/10a/JV/Varsity) is scheduled for Sunday, November 11 at 1:00 pm.  Please mark your calendars.  More information is forthcoming.

 

Reminder to all Boys Soccer players and families to RSVP to attend the end of season banquet held at Eastview on Sunday, November 11 at 1:00 pm.

 

Congratulations to our Girls Soccer team on advancing to the state tournament!  Their first game will be played at 5:30 pm today vs. Armstrong at Park High School in Cottage Grove.  We will be offering a fan bus to this game!!  In order to ride the bus you must sign-up in the Main Office by 3:00 pm today.  The cost to ride the bus is $5.  Tickets for the game will be available at the game for a cost of $7 for adults and $5 for students.

 

Attention all Girls’ Softball players – The softball poinsettia fundraiser is in progress.  If you do not have an order form and information sheet, please stop by to see Mr. Haugh in Room C134 or Office A110 to pick one up

 

All Boys interested in playing Tennis should come to an informal meeting on Monday October 29 in Room C 350 at 2:40

 

ISD 196 Nordic Ski Team - All interested students and their parents should plan to attend the season orientation and informational meeting to be held Sunday, October 28, at Eastview High School, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.  New skiers and their parents should attend from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.  Returning skiers and parents should attend from 7:15 - 8:30 pm.  Park in the west lot, lower level, and follow the signs at the door. Learn how the team works, how we practice, and how we compete.  No prior nordic ski experience necessary.  Bring yourself, bring a friend.  Hope to see you there! SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

The Sophomore Football team earned its 6th win of the season and defeated Park by a score of 30-0. 

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

The Fall Dance Show will be held today & tomorrow at 7:00 pm in the PAC.  Tickets will be on sale at lunch or an hour before the show.  Cost is adults $7 & students $5

 

The International Club will meet on Monday, October 29 at 2:45 in Room B221. We will carve pumpkins, share Halloween stories and discuss various cultural traditions for fall holidays. Everyone is invited.

 

A reminder that the Math Team will practice today in Room C134 right after school.  Please see Mr. Haugh with any questions.

 

A reminder to all LINC 301 invitees: The 1st session of LINC 301 is scheduled for next Monday evening, October 29.  Listen to announcements later this week for exact time and location.  Official registration will take place at the meeting Monday – just show up with a pencil and a smile!

 

Do you like to act and argue?  Come join the Mock Trial team!  Informational meetings will be held at 2:35 today.  If you have any questions, see Ms. Lieffort in C235.

 

Can you imagine all of the students at Eastview AND SES disappearing?  That is about the number of teen drivers killed in car crashes last year!    It is Red Ribbon Week EVHS!  When you see red this week, be reminded to make safe decisions when you get into a car!  SADD wants you to celebrate with us!  We are holding a raffle for some fabulous prizes during lunch periods tomorrow and Friday.  Just stop by the table during lunch and fill out a raffle slip.  There are special prizes for anyone who enters the raffle wearing red!  So look for the table and remember to wear RED!

 

Steppers interested in performing during the school day, Tuesday, October 30—we will practice today at 2:45 in the 3C Locker Bay.  You must be present both days to participate! See Ms. D or Ms. M with questions.

 

For those that are interested in Knowledge Bowl/Quiz Bowl there will be an informational meeting today 2:30 pm in Room C336 See Mr. Kelly if you have any questions.

 

All LEAP members and other people interested in our 5 R’s reduce, recycle, reuse, rethink and refuse campaign need to attend our meeting today at 2:30 in C337.  We need to finalize plans for the next event and pick up permission slips for a November 1 after school field trip to the Eagan Recycling center.  Everyone is welcome.  See Ms Porterfield with questions.

 

Reminder to all Eastview students interested in joining the Ski and Snowboard Club should make sure that you sign up with Mr G and purchase your bus pass for the 2007-2008 season.  Also, there is room for 2 more students on the Colorado trip- see MR G for details.

 

All EVHS students who bought a 2006-2007 Yearbook: you have already paid for your Spring Supplement. They are here! Check out the spring sports, Prom, Graduation, and more. You can pick up your copy in the Commons any day this week during lunch.
