PARENT INFORMATION
Picture Day is Monday, September 10 - No
payment is needed on picture day. Students are to choose their pose from the
five poses available to them. You can review the poses by clicking www.lifetouch.com/eastview
or in the packet that was mailed home in early August. This link will
give you information on this years' portrait program. Once photographed,
student’s proofs will be mailed directly to your home. After you view
your proofs, you can order online and your photographs will be mailed directly
to your home. More information about the program can be found at the
link above.
A few 2006-2007 Yearbooks are
still available. These books can be purchased for $30 in the Main Office.
The Welcome Back Dance will be
held tomorrow evening September 8 from 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm (not tomorrow as
printed in the calendar).
Your students received the blue ISD196 Emergency
Card. Please make corrections on the card, check whether we can give
your child Ibuprofen or Tylenol, note any health concerns teachers should be
aware of and have your student return the signed card to his or her social
studies teacher ASAP. All students must have their Emergency Card
turned in by todayor they will not be able to attend the Welcome Home Dance tomorrow.
Come and support the EVHS Competition Cheerleaders!
The Competition Cheerleaders will be holding a Pancake Breakfast
Fund-raiser at Applebee's in Apple Valley tomorrow from 8:00-10:00 am.
Tickets are $5 per person for a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and
coffee. Tickets can be purchased at the door or can be purchased in
advance by contacting any EVHS Competition Cheerleader or Andrea Brost at evhscheerbooster@hotmail.com.
Parents of Eastview High School Seniors are invited to our 2008 Senior Party Planning Meeting on
Tuesday, September 11 at 7:00 pm in Room C350. All current committee
members will be present and we are looking for committee chair positions in
prizes, decorations and entertainment. Volunteer positions are currently
available in all areas. Please plan to attend to learn more about the party and
to learn how you can help.

Any student who ordered a yearbook
last year may pick up their
2006-2007 Flashback Video Yearbook DVD
during lunch this week. All 2007 graduates may pick up their video
yearbooks in the Main Office. See Mr. Krebs or Mr. Fornicoia with
questions.
Any Parking Permits not picked
up by the end of lunch today will be released and available for students on the
waiting list. Any student still wanting
a permit may pick up an application in the Attendance Office and get on the
waiting list.
COLLEGE INFORMATION
A representative from Bryn Mawr
College will be in the Career Center on Monday, September 10 during 2nd
hour.
A representative from Boston University
will be in the Career Center on Monday, September 10 during 3rd
hour.

SPORT SCORES
Congratulations
to the Boys Varsity Cross Country
team for winning the Matterhorn Invitational. The Lightning was led by
trophy winners Senior Travis Burkstrand in 3rd place and Senior Jeff
Debele in 10th place. Also scoring were Senior Marty Maloney
14th, Sophomore Paul Thompson 16th, and Senior Brian
Griepp 18th. The win earned the squad the 9th place
rank in the State of Minnesota!
Congratulations to the Junior Varsity Boys Cross Country team
for a second place finish at the Matterhorn Invitational. Scoring for the
team were Junior Ian Sharp 11th, Junior John Cayton 12th,
Sophomore Michael Griepp 13th, Senior Michael Mittelsteadt 14th,
and Junior Peter Bryan 17th.
The Sophomore
Football team earned their 2nd win of the season by defeating Apple
Valley 25-6. Nice job sophs!
Congratulations to the Boys’ Varsity Soccer team on their 3-0
win over Lake Conference foe Lakeville South. Your Lightning opened the
scoring in the first half on a goal by Junior Derek Funk fed by Senior Peter
Osborn. The defense continues to stifle opponents in recording their 5th
shutout of the season. The scoring was completed in the second half on a
feed from Senior Andrew Eull to Junior Taylor Rasmusson and a penalty kick by
Senior Taylor Spanton. Strong contributions were made by all in another
great show of team solidarity.
The Lightning Varsity Boys Soccer team dropped their first game of the season
last night in a tough fought 1-0 loss to cross town rival apple valley.
Thanks to all the fans that came out and supported the team in a game that was
as close as the score. Your 6-1 Lightning Boys’ are home Sat against the
Lakers from Prior Lake. Game time is 1pm in Lightning Stadium.
10A Boys Soccer remain undefeated with a 2-1 victory over Apple

The Lightning Varsity
Girls Soccer team moved to 5-0 and first place in the Lake Conference with
a 2-0 win over last year’s conference champs Lakeville South. Sammy
Zieminski scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Brianne Price
late in the second half. Brianne set up Brittnye McSparron for the second
goal of the contest late in the second half. Another strong outing
defensively by the Lightning with Sam Mehr earning the shutout, her 3rd
of the season with lots of help from senior defenders: Sarah Ake, Sammy
Zieminski, Taylor Allen, Heather Walls and Christine Fries with some help from
junior Kelsey North. Senior midfielders: Cat Parkhill, Katie Adams,
Brittnye McSparron, and Paige Ofstedahl and freshman Brianne Price played
strong in the middle. The Lightning return to action at home against
cross town rival Apple Valley at 5:00 today. Be there! We
appreciate your support!
The Lightning Varsity Girls Soccer team outshot and outplayed neighboring rival Apple
Valley last night but could not find the back of the net and had to settle for
a 0-0 tie. This moves the Lightning to 5-0-1, 1-0-1 in the Lake Conference.
This was another shutout for the defense and keeper Sam Mehr. The
Lightning return to action tomorrow as they head north to play perennial state
power Duluth East at 2:00. Thanks for the great fan support for our team
and the Coulter fundraiser last night. Thanks to the Akes for taking a
leadership role in making the fundraiser happen. It is all
appreciated! Go Lightning!
The Sophomore Girls Soccer shutout Apple
Valley 4-0. Strong defensive play helped our keeper Brittany Conroy with her
second shutout this season. Lauren Murray had three goals for the hat trick.
One of Ms. Murray's goals was unassisted. The other two were assisted by Maddie
Kistner. Kelly Uhrich had our final goal of the game unassisted! Way to go
Lightning!!!!!
The 9A
Girls Soccer team has gotten off to a great start this season with a record
of 5-0-1. Last week the team defeated Chaska 4-0 with two goals scored by
Courtney Driscoll and one each by Emily Shea and Kayla Sauve. Against
Rochester Century the team won 12-0 and had goals scored by nine different
players. Katie Heidaman, Rachel Nault and Maddie Moore each had two
goals, and the rest came from Sauve, Driscoll, Taylor Sabrowski, Alex
Beckman, Bri MacDonald and Katie Spohn. Most recently the team tied a
tough Eagan team 1-1. The only goal was scored by Courtney Driscoll and
assisted by Taylor Sabrowski. Great defensive play by Amanda Beckman,
Katie Spohn, Taylor Phillips, Bri MacDonald, Sara Hurt and goalkeeper
Maddie Moore. The team plays Eden Prairie today at home at 4:00.
The Lightning Girls Swim Team swept Lakeville last night by beating Lakeville
North 94-92 and Lakeville South 98-87. This moves the teams record to 3-0
in the Lake Conference and overall. Special congratulations to Freshman
Kayla Hutsell for obliterating the school record in the 100 butterfly. Nice
job!! The team is in action again next Tuesday at Apple Valley.
The Girls
Varsity Tennis team just completed there toughest stretch of the season
playing Lakeville South, Hopkins, and the best team in the State for the last
decade
Eastviews 9A Volleyball team
played Lakeville North in their first game of the season. They took the first game 25-22, lost the second
game 25-23 and lost the third game 15-11.
It was an exciting game and a great start to the season.
ARTS AND ACTIVITIES
FCCLA will be
having a M &M Mixer meeting Thursday September 1 at 7:00 pm in Room
C139. Bring a friend and find out what great activities FCCLA has
planned for the fall. If you are unable to attend please see Mrs.
Hendrickson or Mrs. Svaren in C138. See you there!
Welcome
Back Dance: Tomorrow from 8-11 (not tonight as printed in the
calendar) must have Emergency Card turned in to attend. Cost is $6 or $5 with a can. Students can buy their dance tickets
today during lunch.
The Lightning Press will have a
new member interest and story idea meeting on Tuesday, September 11 before and
after school in C234. Please attend one of the meetings if you’re
interested in writing for the newspaper. See Mr. Hokkanen in C3 if you
have questions.

Roof” for Freshmen and all other students new to Eastview are
available in the Main Office. Auditions for Freshmen and Students new to Eastview
will be held on Tuesday, September 11 from 6:30-8:30 pm.
