 PARENT INFORMATION

Picture Day is Monday, September 10 - No payment is needed on picture day. Students are to choose their pose from the five poses available to them. You can review the poses by clicking www.lifetouch.com/eastview or in the packet that was mailed home in early August.  This link will give you information on this years' portrait program. Once photographed, student’s proofs will be mailed directly to your home.  After you view your proofs, you can order online and your photographs will be mailed directly to your home. A few 2006-2007 Yearbooks are still available.  These books can be purchased for $30 in the Main Office.

 

The Welcome Back Dance will be held on Saturday evening September 8 from 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm (not Friday 9/7 as printed in the calendar).

 

Parent Volunteers are needed to greet at the North Door:  If you are interested in volunteering at the North Door, please contact Paula Zeilon at 952-423-7142 or pcnews@charter.net   There is also a sign-up sheet at the North Door Welcome Desk.  New volunteers are always welcome!  We are currently looking for help the following afternoons  (11:00-1:45): September 10, 13 and 14.

 

Your students received the blue ISD196 Emergency Card today.  Please make corrections on the card, check whether we can give your child Ibuprofen or Tylenol, note any health concerns teachers should be aware of and have your student return the signed card to his or her social studies teacher ASAP.   All students must have their Emergency Card turned in by Friday or they will not be able to attend the Welcome Home Dance on Saturday. 

 

Come and support the EVHS Competition Cheerleaders!  The Competition Cheerleaders will be holding a Pancake Breakfast Fund-raiser at Applebee's in Apple Valley on Saturday, September 8 from 8:00-10:00 am.  Tickets are $5 per person for a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or can be purchased in advance by contacting any EVHS Competition Cheerleader or Andrea Brost at evhscheerbooster@hotmail.com.

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

"The Eastview Boys & Girls Soccer teams will be holding a fund raiser tomorrow for the Coulter family who were involved in the 35W bridge collapse.  For more information refer to the Eastview homepage for a link.

 

The AP Literature summer reading exam is scheduled for tomorrow in Room C350.  Seniors taking the course should plan to attend one of two testing sessions:  2:45-4:45 or 5:30-7:30.  Please bring your books, a pen, and your own paper.

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                                

The Girl’s Tennis team plays Edina today (varsity home and JV at Edina).  JV girls please meet at the west/student entrance of the building at 2:30 pm to leave for Edina.  Good luck girls!

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

The Lightning Girls' Cross Country team won their first meet of the season at the Dakota County Invitational Friday held at Eagan High School. Senior McKenzie Melander was the individual champion covering the 2 mile course in 12:09. Anne Ferguson finished 5th, Anna Williams – 16th,  Diana Schreir – 25th, Mackenzie Bukstrand- 29th, Ally Lawrence was 30th out of a field of 69 runners.  The JV squad finished 3rd overall, and were led by Moe Tierney.  Here is the web for all information.

 

The Lightning Varsity Girls Soccer team is off to a great start this year:  4-0 with wins over Rochester Mayo, White Bear Lake, Minneapolis South, and Rochester Century.  We have outscored our opponents 12-1 Marissa Price is the leading scorer on the team with 4 goals and 2 assists, followed closely by Brittnye McSparron and Meaghan Brigl each with 2.  Our overall team defense has been outstanding led by seniors Sammy Zieminski, Heather Walls, Taylor Allen, Christine Fries, and Sarah Ake in the back.  This is a hard working, focused group of young women and are fun to watch!  Come support us as we begin our Lake Conference play tonight at home against Lakeville South.  We appreciate your support! 

 

On Monday, August 27 the Eastview 9B Girls Soccer team earned their first victory of the season with an 8-1 win over Minneapolis South.  Rebounding from a 3-0 loss on Friday to Rosemount, the Lightning girls scored early and often.  Starting the scoring was Rachel Raske with two goals, along with Lauren Adelmann scoring twice, Brooke Burgeson scoring twice, followed by a goal by Erica Schiebel and one by Bailee Bork.

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

Welcome Back Dance: This Saturday, 8-11 (not Friday as printed in the calendar)  must have Emergency Card turned in to attend.  Cost is $6 or $5 with a can.

 

Student Council members: Our first meeting of the year will be tomorrow morning in C350 at 7:00 am.
