 PARENT INFORMATION

Welcome Desk Volunteers are needed to greet at the North Door the morning of October 12 (8:15-11:00), and the afternoons of October 5 and 30 (11:00-1:45).  Please contact Paula Zeilon at pcnews@charter.net or 952-423-7142 if you can help or have questions.  New volunteers are welcome!

 

School Picture proofs – Information regarding viewing and ordering your proofs has been mailed to your home.  You will receive a personal access code in the mail to view and order your student’s pictures online.  More information is available at www.Lifetouch.com/Eastvieww 

 

The School Store will be open for business.  Stop down and visit us before school or the first 20 minutes of hours one thru four.  We will have new apparel items coming in all next week, including homecoming t-shirts which will be on sale for $12.00.  The school store is located in east end of the commons.  Don’t miss out!!

 

Eastview is hosting a Book Fair at Apple Valley’s Barnes and Noble on Tuesday, October 2.  A percentage of proceeds will go to Media Center Improvements including adding teen appeal.  Please consider shopping and using a voucher any time on Tuesday, October 2.

The Competition Cheerleaders will be hosting a Brat and Hot Dog Stand fundraiser at Von Hanson's, 7533 148th Street in Apple Valley on Saturday, September 29 9:00 am-5:00 pm and Sunday, September 30 10:00 am-4:00 pm.  Bring your friends and stop by for lunch to help support the teams.

 

The first Baseball Booster Club meeting of the year will be held tonight at 7:00 pm in C250.  All interested parents of baseball players are welcome to attend.

 

There will be a meeting for anyone interested in the boys or girls District 196 Alpine Ski Team this winter.  The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 3, at 7:00 pm in Lecture Room A at Eagan High School. Parents and athletes should attend.  Prior racing experience is not required.  Feel free to contact Eastview Captains, Hannah Newman or Clinton Spohn, or Coach Loeffler with any questions.

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The School Store is now open on the east end of the commons.  Homecoming t-shirts will be available at the school store for $12.  We are open before school, the first 20 minutes of hours one thru four.  For the next week, we will also be open during lunch to sell homecoming t-shirts and Eastview apparel.   Stop down and check it out. 

 

Jostens will be in our school for class ring ordering and service.  You can order rings during all lunches today, tomorrow and Friday.  Extra ring packets are in the Main Office.

 

EVHS Students:  Enter the Eye on EVHS contest and win prizes, every month, all year! Entry forms can be found in the Main Office or the Attendance Office. Decorate an Eye, and answer 4 questions. September winners will be announced this Friday!

 

The Eastview Community Foundation supports the community, and Eastview High School, through grants, random acts of kindness, and senior scholarships.  There will not be a ball this year (it may be resurrected later), and so the Foundation’s major fundraiser is this Saturday’s Fun Ride.  Registration starts at 9:00 am at Eastview High School, Lower Parking Lot this Saturday.  If you cannot ride, and would like to help support the foundation, make a donation online at

COLLEGEAND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                                                                         

JUNIORS!!!  Registration for the Wednesday, October 17 PSAT test has begun during 5th hour in the Guidance Office.  The cost of the test is $18.00 and checks are payable to Eastview High school.    Registration will take place thru Tuesday, October 2.   An additional $2.00 fee will be charged for registration after October 2. 

 

ACT has extended their regular registration deadline to today.   Go to the ACT website http://www.actstudent.org/index.html to register online.

 

The Explorers group has many opportunities for students to explore various careers.  Students interested in a career in the medical field may attend an open house on October 8 at Fairview Ridges Hospital. Call 952-892-2390 for details.  Students interested in animal care may attend a meeting on Monday, October 8 at the Minnesota Valley Humane Society.  See Guidance Office for flyers on all these meetings.

 

Seniors!!  If you do not have a Social Studies class this quarter, please come to the Guidance Office for a packet of information.

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                                

There will be an Intramural Badminton meeting today in Room C-350 at 2:35 pm.

 

There will be a Gymnastic team interest meeting on Monday, October 1 at 7:00 pm in Room C350. Please attend if you want to be on the team or be a team manager.

 

Soccer Cheerleaders should come to the Main Office to pick up information about this Friday’s get together.

Attention students: The “STORM FRONT” t-shirts are selling fast and time is running out for you to get yours!!!  The shirts are on sale during lunch in the East Commons and you have only one week left this year to purchase yours!  They will not be sold again after Homecoming until next year!  Get your STORM FRONT t-shirt and wear it to the football game on Friday night at Lakeville South…help cheer-on the Lightning to a victory over the Cougars!!!

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

The 10th ranked Girls' Varsity Cross Country team ran into their toughest competition this season at the 12 team Jaguar Invitational yesterday. Three other teams were also ranked in the top 10. Scoring by McKenzie Melander, Anne Ferguson, Rebecca Pachuta, Anna Williams and Diana Schreier took the Lightning to a 3rd place finish at the meet. The Varsity team will run again Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational held at the University of Minnesota.

 

The Girls' JV Cross Country team finished 6th at the Jaguar Invitational. Moe Tierney led the team with a 34th place finish. Vivian Hou started her come back finishing 36th. Brittany Rayman, a new face to the team finished 38th. Cassie Sheppard and Vicki Seymour completed the scoring for the Lightning. Congratulations!

 

Brianne Price opened the scoring for the Lightning Girls Varsity Soccer team late in the first half on a beautiful unassisted shot.  Hill Murray countered late in the second half to even the score.  Both teams had opportunities for the go ahead goal but neither could find the back of the net.  The Lighting kept their unbeaten streak alive and return to Lake Conference play tomorrow night as they visit Lakeville North at 7:00.

 

Congratulations to the Girls JV Soccer team who extended their winning streak by another game last night by beating Hill Murray.  The Lightning once again came through in the second half, scoring 3 more goals to win 4-2.  Great passing, teamwork, and hustle led to the victory.  Come cheer them on tomorrow afternoon as they take on Lakeville North at 4:00.

 

Congratulations to the 9A Girls Soccer team for their win last night against Hill Murray.  The team came out on top 5-1 and had goals scored by five different players.  Alex Beckman, Katie Heidaman, Courtney Driscoll, Kayla Sauve, and Moe Shea scored the goals and all assists were made by Bri MacDonald.  Congrats to Driscoll who had her fifth header goal off a corner kick, all of which were assisted by MacDonald!!  Very strong play in the midfield by MacDonald, Shea, Marisa Opheim, Dani Glad, Kelsey Marti, and Erica Schiebel led to the win.  Way to go girls!!!

 

The Girls 9B Soccer team lost to a strong Rosemount team Friday by a score of 1-0.  They had a very strong showing against another quality club - Eagan- yesterday but again went down to defeat 2-1; the lone goal for Eastview coming from Bailee (BB) Bork.  We have one final game tomorrow at Rosemount.

 

The Girls Varsity Tennis team completed there rained delayed match yesterday and defeated a very good Lakeville North Tennis Team 4-3. Winning a third set thriller was our 7th Grader Mariah LaVold at 4th Singles  that match secured the Victory. Also winning were Alexis Brown, Elise Allen, And Kayla Frazee . In another third set thriller, Kelly Egan and Nikki Russell played there hearts out but came up short Great job Ladies are final Conference match is today at Chaska

 

The JV Volleyball team took it to three games and defeated Eagan last night, 25-23, 26-28, and 15-6.  The team remains unbeaten on the season!

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

FCA is having a retreat this Friday and Saturday.  Stop by the Guidance Office for info or to pay to attend the retreat.  We are also ordering FCA T-shirts.  See Marrisa Vossen or Mrs. Cross in guidance for details.  FCA will not be meeting Monday, October 1st so students can attend the homecoming movie.  If you haven't come to FCA before, check us out on Monday, October 8th and bring a friend.

 

Students interested in a DANCING ONLY role in our musical, Fiddler on the Roof, should sign up in the Main Office for an audition time.  We will audition on stage on Sunday, Sept 30 from 3:30-4:30 pm OR Monday, October 1 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.
