 PARENT INFORMATION

School Picture proofs – Information regarding viewing and ordering your proofs has been mailed to your home.  You will receive a personal access code in the mail to view and order your student’s pictures online.  More information is available at www.Lifetouch.com/Eastvieww 

 

The School Store will be open for business beginning today.  Stop down and visit us before school or the first 20 minutes of hours one thru four.  We will have new apparel items coming in all next week, including homecoming t-shirts which will be on sale for $12.00.  The school store is located in east end of the commons.  Don’t miss out!!

 

Eastview is hosting a Book Fair at Apple Valley’s Barnes and Noble on Tuesday, October 2.  A percentage of proceeds will go to Media Center Improvements including adding teen appeal.  Please consider shopping and using a voucher any time on Tuesday, October 2.

The first Baseball Booster Club meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 pm in C250.  All interested parents of baseball players are welcome to attend.

 

There will be a meeting for anyone interested in the boys or girls District 196 Alpine Ski Team this winter.  The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 3, at 7:00 pm in Lecture Room A at Eagan High School. Parents and athletes should attend.  Prior racing experience is not required.  Feel free to contact Eastview Captains, Hannah Newman or Clinton Spohn, or Coach Loeffler with any questions.

 

There will be a meeting for all 9th Grade Parents who have a son interested in trying out for boys' Basketball this winter.  The meeting will be held tonight at 7:00 pm in Room C250.  Come and meet the coaches, receive the winter calendar, and discuss the timeline and responsibilities of the tryout process.  Contact Coach Gerber with any questions.

Jostens will be in our school for class ring ordering and service.  You can order rings during all lunches on Wednesday, September 26, Thursday, September 27 and Friday, September 28.  Extra ring packets are in the Main Office.

COLLEGEAND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                                                                         

JUNIORS!!!  Registration for the Wednesday, October 17 PSAT test will begin today during 5th hour in the Guidance Office.  The cost of the test is $18.00 and checks are payable to Eastview High school.    Registration will be today thru Tuesday, October 2.   An additional $2.00 fee will be charged for registration after October 2. 

 

ACT has extended their regular registration deadline to September 26.   Go to the ACT website http://www.actstudent.org/index.html to register online.

 

The Explorers group has many opportunities for students to explore various careers.  Students interested in a career in the medical field may attend an open house today at Fairview Ridges Hospital. Call 952-892-2390 for details.  Students interested in animal care may attend a meeting on Monday, October 8th at the Minnesota Valley Humane Society.  Students interested in law enforcement may attend a meeting, Tuesday, September 25 at the Apple Valley Municipal Center.  See Guidance Office for flyers on all these meetings.

 

Seniors!!  If you do not have a Social Studies class this quarter, please come to the Guidance Office for a packet of information.

 

A representative from St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict’s will be in the Career Center tomorrow during 6th hour.

 

A representative from the Marines will be in the Career Center tomorrow during 5th hour.

 

A representative from the Military Academies will be in the Career Center on Wednesday, September 26th during 2nd hour.

 

A representative from the Army will be in the Career Center on Wednesday, September 26 during 5th hour.

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                                

There will be an important meeting tomorrow in C350 for all boys in grades 9-12 interested in participating in Baseball.  Two options are provided.  Players should plan to attend either before school at 7:00 am or after school at 2:45 pm.  See Coach Strey if you are unable to attend.

 

Pre-season Boys' Basketball meeting for grades 10-12 will be held today at 5:30 pm in Room C250.  Contact Coach Gerber with any questions.

 

There will be an Intramural Badminton meeting on Wednesday, September 26 in Room C-350 at 2:35 pm.

 

There will be a Gymnastic team interest meeting on Monday, October 1 at 7:00 pm in Room C350. Please attend if you want to be on the team or be a team manager.

Girls Tennis reminder - Today all teams will have there team pictures taken right after school, in case of rain the pictures will be taken indoors up by the office by the staircase with the Eastview Logo

 

The Varsity Volleyball team is home tomorrow against Eagan.  Come catch a shirt & cheer loud!!

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Cross Country team for the school’s first championship at the prestigious Eagle Invitational at Apple Valley on Saturday.  Senior Travis Burkstrand led the way for the Lightning in defeating the 25 team field by placing third overall; also scoring for the Lightning were Senior Jeff Debele 15th, Senior Marty Maloney 24th, Sophomore Paul Thompson 34th and Senior Matt Brennan 43rd.

 

Congratulations to the Junior Varsity Boys Cross Country team for their 4th place finish at the Eagle Invite on Saturday.  Scoring for the Lightning were Senior Andy Kump 5th, Junior John Cayton 24th, Senior Michael Mittelsteadt 29th, Junior Ian Sharp 31st, and Junior Scott Wobschall 43rd.

 

The Boys Varsity Soccer team thoroughly dominated Northfield from start to finish on Saturday.  The team had its best showing of the season by outclassing their opponents in every phase of the game.  The team showed great character in the face of adversity during key moments in the contest.  Getting on the score sheet for your Lightning were Peter Osborn with an assist, Tony Santoorjian with 2 goals and Taylor Spanton with 2 goals and an assist.  Your Lightning are in action again tonight again Champlin Park at 7:00 pm in the stadium.

 

The Boys JV Soccer team got out to a quick start on Saturday with two goals from Adam Moore, and a goal from John Clawson, 3 goals in the first 8 minutes. Second half the boys had goals from Matt Balszack, and Scott Hogan. Final score was 5-0 next game Monday at home.

 

The Freshmen Boys Soccer team posted a win at Northfield on Saturday, rebounding from a Friday loss to Apple Valley.  Chris Brown, David Barry, Daniel Falkenberg, & Michael Langevin all scored vs Northfield to post the 4-1 victory.

 

The Lightning Girls Varsity Soccer kept their unbeaten streak alive and ran their record to 12-0-1 overcoming a spirited Rosemount team in a rescheduled Friday afternoon game on the road, and defeating Prior Lake 2-0 on Saturday.  Marissa Price got the games only goal late in the Rosemount game in the first half off an assist from Meaghan Brigl.  Despite controlling play, virtually all of the second half, the Lightning could not get the second goal against a spirited Irish team.  In the Prior Lake game  Meaghan Brigl had a late first half and early second half goal accounting for all the games scoring.  Assists went to Claire Elliott and Marissa Price.  The Lightning played well, dominating throughout the field.  The Lightning return to play tomorrow going on the road to play Hill Murray at &:00.  Hope you can jo8n us.  We appreciate your support!  Go Lightning! 

 

Congratulations to the Girls JV Soccer team who beat Prior Lake 4-0 on Saturday.  The Lightning are having a great season with a 13-0 record and outscoring their opponents 47-4.  Hard work and a commitment to get better each day is continuing to pay off for the Lightning. Wish the girls luck as they take on a tough Hill Murray team tomorrow night!

 

The 9A Girls Soccer team defeated Apple Valley and Prior Lake over the weekend.  They beat the Eagles 3-0 with goals scored by Courtney Driscoll, Quinn Handahl and Taylor Sabrowski.  Assists were made by Sabrowski and Rachel Nault.  They defeated the Lakers 8-0 with two goals each scored by Marisa Opheim and Alex Beckman, and a goal each by Courtney Driscoll, Katie Heidaman, Bri MacDonald, and Rachel Nault.  Maddie Moore and Katie Heidaman earned the shutouts in goal.  Great team effort!  The Lightning improve their record to 11-0-1.     

 

On Saturday the Girls Varsity Tennis team traveled to Northfield and won the Tourney defeating Northfield 5-2 and Mahtomedi 4-3.  The girls travel to Lakeville North today for a very important Conference Show Down.

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

Just a reminder, the Eastview Book Club will meet tomorrow at 7:00 pm at the Apple Valley Barnes and Noble.  Anyone interested in participating should read this month’s selection, Twilight, and join us tonight. 

 

Anyone interested in joining DECA this year should see Ms. Mohr in C238 to pick up information regarding the Fall Leadership Conference coming up in October.  We will have a membership meeting once everyone has turned in their registration materials.  Registration is due by today.  We are looking forward to another great year.

 

FCA will be going on a retreat September 28 through the 29th.  For more information and details, go to the Guidance Office or contact Marissa Vossen.  Don't forget to bring money tonight for this event.  Come Monday at 7:00 for another great night at the Placeway's house and bring a friend.   

 

All new and returning FCCLA members- the registration deadline for the fall leadership conference is this coming tomorrow. Dues must be paid to attend. Sign up for committees and fall activities is on-going. Anyone can still join. Pick up info in C138 or see Mrs. Hendrickson or Mrs. Svaren soon!
