 PARENT INFORMATION

Eastview is hosting a Book Fair at Apple Valley’s Barnes and Noble on Tuesday, October 2.  A percentage of proceeds will go to Media Center Improvements including adding teen appeal.  Please consider shopping and using a voucher any time on Tuesday, October 2.

The first Baseball Booster Club meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 pm in C250.  All interested parents of baseball players are welcome to attend.

 

There will be a meeting for all 9th Grade Parents who have a son interested in trying out for boys' Basketball this winter.  The meeting will be held on Monday September 24 at 7:00 pm in Room C250.  Come and meet the coaches, receive the winter calendar, and discuss the timeline and responsibilities of the tryout process.  Contact Coach Gerber with any questions.

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Jostens will be in our school for class ring ordering and service.  You can order rings during all lunches on Wednesday, September 26, Thursday, September 27 and Friday, September 28.  Extra ring packets are in the Main Office.

 

The Lightning Café will now be selling Panini sandwiches.  These are cold sandwiches on nice Panini bread; choices are Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, and Chicken Caesar.  Come down after school to the Café and enjoy any of our healthier than vending machine alternatives for your afternoon snack!

 

Tune up your bike and join us--Parents and students—for Eastview Community Foundation’s first Fun Ride on Saturday September 29.  All monies raised go back to the Eastview Community Foundation, and you can chose which high school organization you’d like to support.  (Band, a specific sport, etc.)  More information: http://www.evcf.org/AllSchoolFunRide/2007AllSchoolFunRide.php

 

Honors transcripts for Grades 10- 12 will be available for students to pick up in the Guidance Office during 5th period.  See Mrs. Gerrits in the Guidance Office if you have any questions regarding your honors transcripts.

 

Any student who ordered a yearbook last year may pick up their 2006-2007 Flashback Video Yearbook DVD in the TV Studio or in the Main Office.  All 2007 graduates may pick up their video yearbooks in the Main Office.  See Mr. Krebs or Mr. Fornicoia with questions.

 

COLLEGEAND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                                                                         

JUNIORS!!!  Registration for the Wednesday, October 17 PSAT test will begin on Monday, September 24 during 5th hour in the Guidance Office.  The cost of the test is $18.00 and checks are payable to Eastview High school.    Registration will be from September 24 thru Tuesday, October 2.   An additional $2.00 fee will be charged for registration after October 2. 

 

ACT has extended their regular registration deadline to September 26.   Go to the ACT website http://www.actstudent.org/index.html to register online.

 

A representative from Hamline University will be in the Career Center on Friday, September 21 during 6th hour.

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                                

There will be an important meeting on Tuesday, September 25 in C350 for all boys in grades 9-12 interested in participating in Baseball.  Two options are provided.  Players should plan to attend either before school at 7:00 am or after school at 2:45 pm.  See Coach Strey if you are unable to attend.

 

Pre-season Boys' Basketball meeting for grades 10-12 will be held on Monday September 24 at 5:30 pm in Room C250.  Contact Coach Gerber with any questions.

 

Registration continues for both IM Flag Football and IM Badminton this week in the Main Office.  We have also extended the interest list timeline for volleyball and kickball.  As of now there are not enough participants to offer volleyball or kickball.  Sign up in the Main Office if you have an interest in either of these two activities.

 

There will be an Intramural Badminton meeting on Wednesday, September 26 in Room C-350 at 2:35 pm.

 

There will be a Gymnastic team interest meeting on Monday, October 1 at 7:00 pm in Room C350. Please attend if you want to be on the team or be a team manager.

 

The Varsity Girls Soccer team will play tonight at Rosemount at 4:00 pm.  This is a reschedule from last night.  Be there – we appreciate your support!

 

Volleyball players remember that team pictures are today for the B-Squad through Varsity.  Envelopes and money are due at the time of pictures.

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

JV Boys Soccer continued there great season with a 4-0 win over Rosemount. Goals by Adam Moore, Scott Fusco, Brian Dopp, and Jake Williams.
These puts the JV boys record to 10-1-1 with 32 PF, and 7 GA. Next game is Away vs Northfield on Saturday.

 

7-0 was the score to yesterday's Girls JV Soccer game against rival Rosemount.  The Lightning were ahead 2-0 at half time and really came through in the second half to score an additional five goals.  Great defense led to another shutout for the Lightning.  Come cheer on the team as they take on Prior Lake this Saturday at 11.

 

The Lightning Girls Sophomore Soccer team had another great shut out against Rosemount 6-0. Maddie Kistner had our first goal with an assist from Lauren Goodell. Sydney Elling had a goal with an assist from Kelly Uhrich. Maddie Kistner made her second goal of the game on a penalty kick. Joy Rukavina had two goals for the game. One unassisted and the other assisted from Amber Chihanski. Amy Traub had our final goal of the game unassisted.  Brittany Conroy our goal keeper returned to us due to illness with a great shut out. Go Lightning!

 

The Girls Swimming and Diving team improved their record to 5-0 with a win over Bloomington Kennedy 135-46.  The Lightning took 1-2 in 8 of 12 events and 1-2-3 in 5 events.  The team is in action again next week against Eagan

 

On Senior Day, the Girls Varsity Tennis team defeated cross-town rival Rosemount 7-0 the girls continue to improve with every match and have there sights on sections in a couple of weeks.

 

The JV Girls Tennis team just won their second match in a row.  They have had 2 very close and exciting matches against Eden Prairie and Rosemount winning both of them 4-3.  Playing for the Lightning are Carly Torberg, Kate Fridley, Jessica Seline, Elizabeth Roeske, Emily Jackson, Julia Pagh, Kayla Hestness, Coral Luoma, Rachel Spika, Marett Fraune, and Lauren Grotkin.  All of the girls are playing well and making huge improvements.  Way to go girls!  Come out to support the Lightning next week at home on both Monday and Wednesday!

 

The 9A Girls Soccer team defeated Rosemount 3-0.  The first goal was scored by Courtney Driscoll off of a corner kick from Bri MacDonald.  It was a beautiful header into the back of the net.  Driscoll also scored the second goal off of an assist from Kelsey Marti.  The final goal was scored in the second half by Lindsay Ruszczyk off of another corner kick by MacDonald.  The Lightning played a tough game and improve their record to 9-0-1.  The team plays Apple Valley at home at 4:00 today. 

 

The 9B Girls Soccer team put forth an outstanding effort and earned a 4-0 victory over visiting Shakopee.  Goals were scored by Kelly (Becky) Goblirsch - her first of the season, Meghan Murray - her third of the season, Gia Sonsalla - her first of the season, and Becky Guenther - her first of the season.  Way to go girls.  Next up is the Rosemount Irish squad.

 

The Varsity Volleyball team had another 5 game match last night and came out with a victory over Lakeville South.  Top leaders for the match were Lauren Grant with 18 kills and Karlee Lursen with 17 kills, Brit Sawyer with 15 digs, & Kaiti Wachter with 31 digs.  The team is home this coming Tuesday against Eagan.  COME CATCH A SHIRT!

 

The 9A Volleyball Squad played Burnsville Metcalf last night and won in two games.  The scores were 25-8 and 25-15.  The 9A squad also pulled out a win against Rosemount on Tuesday.  They went three games and the scores were 25-22, 19-25, and 15-10.  The 9B team also beat Rosemount on Tuesday in two games.

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

Just a reminder, the Eastview Book Club will meet next Tuesday, September 25 at 7:00 pm at the Apple Valley Barnes and Noble.  Anyone interested in participating should read this month’s selection, Twilight, and join us on the 25th

 

Anyone interested in joining DECA this year should see Ms. Mohr in C238 to pick up information regarding the Fall Leadership Conference coming up in October.  We will have a membership meeting once everyone has turned in their registration materials.  Registration is due by Monday, September 24.  We are looking forward to another great year.

 

FCA will be going on a retreat September 28 through the 29th.  For more information and details, go to the Guidance Office or contact Marissa Vossen.  Don't forget to bring money Monday night for this event.  Come Monday at 7:00 for another great night at the Placeway's house and bring a friend.   

 

All new and returning FCCLA members- the registration deadline for the fall leadership conference is this coming Tuesday, September 25. Dues must be paid to attend. Sign up for committees and fall activities is on-going. Anyone can still join. Pick up info in C138 or see Mrs. Hendrickson or Mrs. Svaren soon!
