PARENT INFORMATION
Welcome Desk volunteers are needed for the am shift on
September 21 and BOTH shifts on September 24 and 28. Please contact Paula

All EVHS parents are invited to EVHS’s parent volunteer
organization, Parents Are Key (PAK). We will meet on Monday,
September 17 at 7:00 pm in the EVHS Career Center. Join other EVHS parents
as we contribute to Eastview’s “Journey to Extraordinary.”
Perspectives on Parenting, a series of seminars for
parents, is sponsoring a seminar entitled, “College Application Process for
Seniors and Their Parents” on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00 pm in the EVHS
Media Center. Seniors and their parents are invited to the informational
meeting that outlines the college application process including the explanation
of various deadlines, ACT and SAT tests, how to choose a college, letters of
recommendation, college essays, etc.
A few 2006-2007 Yearbooks (last year) are still
available. These books can be purchased for $30 in the Main
Office.
The Girls’ Cross Country team is finishing up their
fundraiser, and they have a few Von Hanson’s coupons for meats left to
sell. If interested in making a purchase please contact Jorjean Fischer through

ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Lightning Café will now be selling Panini
sandwiches. These are cold sandwiches on nice Panini bread; choices
are Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, and Chicken
Caesar. Come down after school to the Café and enjoy any of our healthier
than vending machine alternatives for your afternoon
snack!
Tune up your bike and join us--Parents and students—for
Eastview Community Foundation’s first Fun Ride on Saturday September
29. All monies raised go back to the Eastview Community Foundation, and
you can chose which high school organization you’d like to support. (Band,

Honors transcripts for Grades 10- 12 will be available
for students to pick up in the Guidance Office during 5th
period. See Mrs. Gerrits in the Guidance Office if you have any questions
regarding your honors transcripts.
Any student who ordered a yearbook last year
may pick up their 2006-2007 Flashback Video Yearbook DVD in the TV Studio
or in the Main Office. All 2007 graduates may pick up their video
yearbooks in the Main Office. See Mr. Krebs or Mr. Fornicoia with
questions.

COLLEGEAND SCHOLARSHIP
INFORMATION
A representative from Vanderbilt University will be in
the Career Center tomorrow during 1st hour.
The University of
Minnesota Health Career Center is again offering the
Scrubs, Gloves & Microscopes (SGM) program which is a
“Hands-On” Exploration of Health Careers. Six different health
careers will be featured during the 2007-08 school year. For program

Seniors – Registration deadline for the October 27
ACT test is September 21. LATE registration for the October 6 SAT
Test is September 14. See Guidance Office for registration information.
A representative from Lehigh University will be in the
Career Center on Monday, September 17 during 6th hour. Please
get a pass from the Guidance Office.
Seniors: The AES Engineering Scholarship
application is due September 15. You do not need to be pursing a

. Students interested in a health related field, can apply for the Tylenol
Scholarship is due September 30 – see www.tylenolscholarship.com.
Attention students – Eastview NHS is selling black
“Storm Front” t-shirts for $10 during all lunches for the next couple
weeks! The purpose of the shirts is to create a unified “student
section” at all the football games – be sure to get yours today and be ready
to support the Lightning Football team against Eagan and out-cheer “The Pit” on
tomorrow!!!!
Fans planning on attending the football game at
Eagan High School tomorrow should plan on arriving early if they need to
purchase a ticket. Last week at Apple Valley some people did not get in
until halftime as they were waiting in line to purchase a ticket. Tickets
go on sale and gates open at 5:45 p.m. and there will be food from local
restaurants available for purchase inside the stadium. If you want to
avoid the line season passes are still available for students and adults in the
Main Office. Cost is $60 for students for the entire year including all
regular season games at District 196 schools and $60 for adults for the fall
season.
The Fall Intramural season has now arrived!!! We are
now taking registrations for IM Flag Football ($60) and IM Badminton
($30). Registration forms are now available in the Main Office for
both of these activities. We are also looking at adding IM Kickball
and IM Volleyball if there is enough interest. In order to
determine interest for these two activities there will be a sign-up form in the
Main Office. We will determine if there is enough interest to make these
two sports an option this fall by the number of students on the list by
tomorrow. If you are interested be sure to stop by this week and get your
name on the list!

There will be an informational meeting on Monday, September 17 at 2:30 pm in
Room C350.
Attention all JV and Varsity Girls Soccer
players: Meet in the Weight Room right after school today to lift.

SPORT SCORES
The Sophomore Football team
improved their record to 3-0 with a come from behind win and defeated the Eagan
Wildcats 18-14. With the win, the team was able to retain possession
of the Traveling Helmet.
The Varsity Girls Soccer team was trailing for the
first time all season last night. However, the girls showed their fighting
spirit and managed to battle back and eventually win the game with a goal in the
remaining minutes; to make the score 3-2 over Champlin Park. The team is now
8-0-1 and ranked #2 in the state. Their next game is Saturday at 11:00 at home
against Bloomington Jefferson.
The Lightning Girls Sophomore Soccer team had a tough
game against Champlin Park. Lightning tied 1-1. Maddie Kistner scored our only
goal with an assist from Katie Pendino. Great job from the whole team! GO
LIGHTNING!!!!
Congratulations to the JV Girls Soccer team who
battled with Champlin Park last night. With great teamwork and poise the
Lightning won 3-0. The win brings the team’s record to 9 wins and 0
losses. The Lightning have scored 33 goals against their opponents while
only letting in three. Great work ladies!!
The 9A Girls Soccer team continued their unbeaten
streak last night by defeating Lakeville South 7-0. Alex Beckman had a hat
trick for the team and Courtney Driscoll, Taylor Sabrowski, Katie Heidaman, and
Amanda Beckman had a goal each. Assists were made by Sabrowski, Driscoll,
Alex Beckman, Bri MacDonald and Quinn Handahl. Great play in the midfield
by Lindsay Ruszczyk, Moe Shea, Marisa Opheim, Kelsey Marti, and Dani Glad
contributed to the strong team performance. The Lightning improve
their record to 8-0-1. Great team effort!
Yesterday the Girls Tennis team defeated the Eagles of
Apple Valley 6-1 the match ended with a dramatic come from behind 3-set match at
3rd singles. Kayla Frazee had dropped the first set, was down 4-1 in
the second when her comeback began she won the second set in a tiebreaker and
finished the match with a 6-4 third set. Next up the girls travel to Edina for
the Jim Jones Classic featuring some of the best teams in the State match
start time is 8:30 am Sat at Hopkins High School VS Rochester
Mayo
ARTS AND ACTIVITIES
Attention Chess players! We will meet today
after school in Room A205. Everyone is welcome tot attend. Please
see Mr. Dettmer if you have any questions.
The Diversity Club will hold its first meeting for new
and returning members on Tuesday, September 18. Please join us for some
fun in C334 at 2:35. All students are welcome.
Musical auditions for “Fiddler on the Roof” will take
place next weekn on Wednesday and Thursday. Sign up in the Main Office for
a time.
FCCLA will be having an M &M Mixer meeting tonight
at 7:00 pm in Room C139. Bring a friend and find out what great
activities FCCLA has planned for the fall. If you are unable to attend
please see Mrs. Hendrickson or Mrs. Svaren in C138. See you
there!
LEAP, Lightning Environmental Awareness Program will
have its first meeting today at 2:30 in Room C337. Everyone is
welcome!
Attention all students interested in participating in LINC
Community Service: There will be an informational meeting today right
after school at 2:35 in C350 and tomorrow morning at 7:00 am in C350.
You should attend one of the two meetings. We will be discussing the
Twin Cities Marathon, tutoring, and other big fall events. If
you’re looking for a way to give back to the community, this is a great place to
start!
Quilt Club will meet on Wednesday, September 19 in
Room C 139 after school.
The ski & snowboard season is only 3 months away.
