 PARENT INFORMATION

All EVHS parents are invited to EVHS’s parent volunteer organization, Parents Are Key (PAK).  We will meet on Monday, September 17 at 7:00 pm in the EVHS Career Center.  Join other EVHS parents as we contribute to Eastview’s “Journey to Extraordinary.” 

 

Perspectives on Parenting, a series of seminars for parents, is sponsoring a seminar entitled, “College Application Process for Seniors and Their Parents” on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00 pm in the EVHS Media Center.  Seniors and their parents are invited to the informational meeting that outlines the college application process including the explanation of various deadlines, ACT and SAT tests, how to choose a college, letters of recommendation, college essays, etc. 

 

A few 2006-2007 Yearbooks (last year) are still available.  These books can be purchased for $30 in the Main Office.

 

The Girls’ Cross Country team is finishing up their fundraiser, and they have a few Von Hanson’s coupons for meats left to sell. If interested in making a purchase please contact Jorjean Fischer through E mail jorjean.fischer@district196.org

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Lightning Café will begin selling Panini sandwiches.  These are cold sandwiches on nice Panini bread; choices are Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, and Chicken Caesar.  Come down after school to the Café and enjoy any of our healthier than vending machine alternatives for your afternoon snack!

 

Tune up your bike and join us--Parents and students—for Eastview Community Foundation’s first Fun Ride on Saturday September 29.  All monies raised go back to the Eastview Community Foundation, and you can chose which high school organization you’d like to support.  (Band, a specific sport, etc.)  More information: http://www.evcf.org/AllSchoolFunRide/2007AllSchoolFunRide.php

 

Honors transcripts for Grades 10- 12 will be available for students to pick up in the Guidance Office during 5th period.  See Mrs. Gerrits in the Guidance Office if you have any questions regarding your honors transcripts.

 

Students are invited to attend the Fairview Health Services HEALTH CARE CAREER EXPO, Wednesday, September 12 from Noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, 1330 Industrial Blvd. Minneapolis, MN. Any student who ordered a yearbook last year may pick up their 2006-2007 Flashback Video Yearbook DVD in the TV Studio or in the Main Office.  All 2007 graduates may pick up their video yearbooks in the Main Office.  See Mr. Krebs or Mr. Fornicoia with questions.

A representative from Vanderbilt University will be in the Career Center tomorrow during 1st hour.

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                                

Fans planning on attending the football game at Eagan High School should plan on arriving early if they need to purchase a ticket.  Last week at Apple Valley some people did not get in until halftime as they were waiting in line to purchase a ticket.  Tickets go on sale and gates open at 5:45 p.m. and there will be food from local restaurants available for purchase inside the stadium.  If you want to avoid the line season passes are still available for students and adults in the Main Office.  Cost is $60 for students for the entire year including all regular season games at District 196 schools and $60 for adults for the fall season.      

 

The Fall Intramural season has now arrived!!!  We are now taking registrations for IM Flag Football ($60) and IM Badminton ($30).  Registration forms are now available in the Main Office for both of these activities.  We are also looking at adding IM Kickball and IM Volleyball if there is enough interest.  In order to determine interest for these two activities there will be a sign-up form in the Main Office.  We will determine if there is enough interest to make these two sports an option this fall by the number of students on the list by this Friday.  If you are interested be sure to stop by this week and get your name on the list!      

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer team on their 2-1 win over Chaska last night.  Your Lightning were led offensively with goals by Taylor Spanton and Tony Santoorijan, assisted by Andrew Eull.  Defensively the team was dominant once again only allowing 3 shots on net.

 

Congratulations to the Girls Sophomore Soccer team with their 3-0 victory over Chaska. Kelly Uhrich scored our first goal unassisted. Maddie Kistner scored the next two with one of them assisted by Amy Traub. Annika Torbenson, Gia Blake, Funmi Adams and Dani Erickson held a tight back defensive line. Brittany Conroy had a strong shut out in goal. Way to go Lightning!

 

The 9A Girls Soccer team defeated Lakeville North 5-1 last night.  Courtney Driscoll scored two goals and Erica Schiebel, Kayla Sauve, and Marisa Opheim each had a goal.  Assists were made by Bri MacDonald, Taylor Sabrowski and Emily Shea.  Strong performances in goal by Maddy Moore and Katie Heidaman.  The team improves their record to 7-0-1. 

 

The 7th ranked Girls Swimming and Diving team improved their record to 4-0 with a win over Apple Valley last night.  The Lightning took first in 6 of 9 nine individual event and went 1-2 in all three relays to thoroughly dominate the Eagles.  The team is in action again next Thursday against Kennedy. 

 

Varsity Volleyball defeated Apple Valley High School last night in an awesome 4 game match.  Lauren Grant hit for 16 kills and Karlee Lursen & Steph Kent hit for 12 kills each.  Next Monday & Tuesday the volleyball team plays at home against top 10 Shakopee and Burnsville.  Come catch a shirt!!!

 

After taking 1st place at the Eastview Tournament over the weekend, the JV Volleyball team had a solid win last night defeating Apple Valley 25-9, 25-14.  All players contributed to remain undefeated on the season.

 

Congrats to the Sophomore Volleyball team for their victory over rivals Apple Valley 25-10, 25-4 Tuesday night.

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

Attention Chess players!  We will meet today & tomorrow after school in Room A205.  Everyone is welcome tot attend.  Please see Mr. Dettmer if you have any questions.

 

The Diversity Club will hold its first meeting for new and returning members on Tuesday, September 18.  Please join us for some fun in C334 at 2:35.  All students are welcome.

 

FCCLA will be having an M &M Mixer meeting tomorrow at 7:00 pm in Room C139.   Bring a friend and find out what great activities FCCLA has planned for the fall.  If you are unable to attend please see Mrs. Hendrickson or Mrs. Svaren in C138.  See you there!

 

Attention all students interested in participating in LINC Community Service:  There will be an informational meeting tomorrow right after school at 2:35 in C350 and Friday morning at 7:00 am in C350.   You should attend one of the two meetings.  We will be discussing the Twin Cities Marathon, tutoring, and other big fall events.  If you’re looking for a way to give back to the community, this is a great place to start!

 

Quilt Club will not meet today. We will meet on Wednesday, September 19 in Room C 139 after school.

 

Do you wish you could Build, Design, and Program a robot while playing with LEGOs?  The Robotics Team will hold their informational meeting today in the C1 cluster.  We have many girls signed up this year and are looking for even more.   So, everyone that is interested in Robotics, plus returning members, please come from 2:30 to 3:30 to learn more about this year’s “Power Puzzle” challenge!  If you are interested but can’t attend, please contact Dr. Rob Franchino.

Anyone interested in joining the Eastview Steppers—if you were unable to attend yesterday’s practice you can still join today or tomorrow.  Please see Ms. Dumonceaux in the 3C Office or Ms. Erin Mathews in the 3A office with any questions.
