SPORT SCORES

The Lightning Girls Varsity Basketball team began their defense of their Lake Conference championship with a 76-48 win over Burnsville.  After building up a 16 point halftime lead the Lightning cruised to the win.  Brittnye McSparron had an outstanding game, scoring 28 points, setting up her teammates for scores, and playing solid defense.  Danae Moore added 19 points.  Cassie Shepperd played her second solid game of the season at both ends of the floor, ending the game with 9 rebounds.  The Lightning continue with Lake Conference play on the road Friday against the Bloomington Jefferson. Be there, we appreciate your support!

The Varsity Boys Hockey team tallied their first win of the season with a 7-3 victory over district rival Apple Valley. (The boys tied Lakeville South last Sat. night at the new Lakeville Arena despite outshooting South 2-1.  Garrick Perry came out with both goals.)  Last night,  the Lightning  scored ( Perry ) just 4 mins and 46 seconds into the first period to take a lead that wouldn’t end.  Jared Larson added the second goal and Rob Maloney finished the third period with a power play goal to  put the score at 3-0.    There were numerous attempts by all lines in the second period but the Lightning came up short and AV scored one on a power play ending the second at 3-1.  The Lightning came out strong in the third getting a goal (Maloney from Gorski and Larson) just 35 seconds into the period.  AV eventually answered, but that would be their final goal and the Lightning added 3 more. Mike Chacich scored next on a beautiful power play goal from Friedman and Fienhage!  Maloney and then Friedman put the icing on the win scoring just a couple minutes apart. Ryan O’Shea turned away 24 shots for the win.  The Lightning take on top rated Edina Sat. night at Braemer Arena- come show your support!

On Tuesday night the Eastview Girls JV Hockey team traveled to South St. Paul to take on the Packers. The Packers, with their storied history in Girls High School hockey, were no match for the feisty Lightning. Lindsey Wilharm lit the lamp first with a goal assisted by Amanda Parranto. Then it was Parranto’s turn to find the back of the net to make it 2-0. That’s how it remained going in to the third period until Wilharm scored her second goal of the night to finish the scoring. It was a total team effort with many opportunities for goals. The JV girls will play Chaska on Saturday afternoon at AVSC. Go Lightning!
