 PARENT INFORMATION 

School Portrait orders extended until November 30– It’s not too late!  Your proofs have been mailed to your home which includes your personal access code to view and order your student’s pictures online. Meeting the deadline ensures everyone receives their School Portraits before the holidays. Do you have old cell phones and printer cartridges?  If so, you can turn them into the Eastview High School Main Office.  This program has been a great way to generate resources for our school while recycling old cell phones and printer cartridges.

 

Harassment and Bullying:  “What Parents Need to Know” James Backstrom, Dakota County Attorney, will present a Perspectives on Parenting forum tonight at 7:00 pm at Falcon Ridge Middle School in Apple Valley.  Mr. Backstrom will discuss harassment and bullying from a legal perspective and he recommends steps to be taken by parents and students when bullying takes place at school. To underscore this important issue, in a recent survey about thirty percent of ISD 196’s middle and high school students report being bullied or harassed at least once a month.  Mr. Backstrom has spoken to over 12,000 people in our communities about this topic and is considered an expert in the field.  This event is sponsored by area middle and high schools. All are welcome to attend this free event.  CEU’s are available.


The next Nordic Ski Team Booster Club meeting will be held on Sunday, December 2, beginning at 6:30 pm., at Eastview High School, Room C250.  Parents of all Nordic team members are invited to attend.

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                              

The District 196 Community Education Aquatics Program offers training for jobs in Aquatics. The American Red Cross Lifeguarding for Pools and Waterparks course, for ages 15 and up, will be held Saturdays from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm and Sundays from noon to 6:00 pm. on December 1, 2, 8, and 9.   Visit our website at http://www.district196.org/ce/pdf/LifeguardTraining.pdf for further information. COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                                                                        

Seniors!!!  The Burger King Scholarship application is available at www.bk.com/scholars   Criteria to apply include working  part-time on an average of 15 hours a week anywhere, involved in community service activities and demonstrate financial need.  See Guidance Office for further information.  Applications are available online thru February 15.

 

A representative from the Community Ed Aquatics Center will be in the Common Center today during 5th hour.

 

A representative from the Army National Guard will be in the Career Center today during 5th hour.

 

Attention Seniors:  College applications with December 1 – January 1 deadlines should be submitted by tomorrow.   Applications with a January 15 deadline should be submitted by December 10.  Please contact Mrs. Gerrits or your counselor for any questions.

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                                

Intramural Basketball sign-up are in the Main Office. Games are played on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The cost is $70. Spots fill up quickly, so sign-up with Ms. Beckmann in the Main Office! See Mr. Kelly if you have any questions.

         

If you were unable to attend the Boys Soccer banquet, your awards, certificates and photo CD’s are located in the Main Office with Joan Beckman -as are their yellow release cards.

         

The EVHS Gymnastics team will be featured tonight on Channel 11 ten o'clock news feature Perk at Play.

 

 The Icette practice has changed for after school today.  It is now from 4:00-4:50 at the Apple Valley Arena.

 

Attention Eastview Alpine Skiers: We will be inline skating today in the usually spot at 3:00 pm today.

 

Come out tonight and cheer on the Lightning Dance Team at their Lake Conference high kick meet at Burnsville. Competition starts at 7:30 pm and the LDT performs first. Don't be late!


The ISD 196 Nordic Ski team will host their annual pancake breakfast next Sunday, December 2, from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm at the American Legion in Apple Valley, located at 14521 Granada Ave.  Tickets are available from any Nordic skier, or at the door for $6.00.  Thanks for your support - hope to see you there!

Lightning Varsity Girls Basketball tonight: 7:00 at home against the Blaze.  Come cheer us on as we go for our 5th Lake Conference Title in the past 6 years!  Be there, we appreciate your support!

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

There will be a short meeting for Business Professionals of America members to make contest selections and gather contest information and samples this week.  Two meeting options:  Tomorrow after school in C239 and Thursday at 7:00 am in C239.  Attendance at one of the two meetings is MANDATORY.

 

Fiddler on the Roof tickets go on sale this Thursday evening from 5-8 pm.  Numbers to hold your place in line will be distributed starting at 3:00 pm by 1st floor concessions by the Gym.  Depending on ticket availability, additional box office hours are Monday, December 3 from 2:30- 4 pm, Tuesday December 4 from 6-7 pm, and Wednesday December 5 from 2:30-4 pm.  The Box Office is always open 1 hour before each performance, and performances are December 7,8, 14, and 15 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 9 at 2:00 pm. We look forward to seeing you at the show!

 

There will be a meeting for all SADD members tomorrow at 7:00 am in Room A101.  We will be making arrangements for all of our December activities.  Please contact a leader if you will not be there.

 

Thanks to all who auditioned for the 2007-2008 Eastview Speech Team.  The team will be posted 5th period in both the A 3 cluster and the Main Office windows.

 

Attention All Ski & Snowboard Club members:  We are planning to make our first trip to Welch Village this Thursday, November 19.  Bus leaves at 3:00 pm and returns at 10:00 pm from the West doors.  Equipment can be stored in the B1 cluster area before school-  Please see MR G in the B1 office with questions.

 

If you are interested in joining Student Council pick up an application outside Room C336.

 

The Voices staff will meet after school on Wednesday for Yearbook pictures.   All staff members should plan to attend for this photo op.
