The Girls Swim and Dive team had a great competition at the section finals last Friday.  The team qualified for the state competition in 6 of 12 events including;  Brianna Denny in Diving, Andrea Chvatal in the 100 backstroke, Kayla Hutsell in the 100 Butterfly and 200 IM, the 200 Medley Relay team of Chvatal, Tipler, Hutsell and Trace and the 400 Free Relay team of Muckler, Anderson, Hutsell and Chvatal.  The state swim prelims is Friday at 6:30, diving on Thursday at the U of M Aquatic Center.

On Saturday the Girls Varsity Hockey team took on Lakeville South and left with a hard fought 4-3 overtime victory. Lakeville got on the board first with the only goal of the first period, this would be the only time Lakeville would hold the lead. The second period saw the Lightning come out with more intensity. Christine Fries would score the first goal of the year to tie the game & Meaghan Brigl put the Lightning on top. Forwards Mackenzie Caughey, Kayla Willer, Kaitlin Leininger & Lindsey Day solid play came through as they would be matched up against all 3 of Lakevilles lines during the period. The line of Emily Snodgrass, Laura Gengler and Courtney Kukowski created some excellent opportunities, but could not manage to light the lamp. The defense of Laura Beitzel, Kayla Terlinde, Ashley Maskel, Sarah Moran and Amy Tanner stepped up to keep the Cogars at bay. The Lightning would take a 3-1 lead in the third on Lisa Gormans' first goal in a Li ghtning uniform. Lakeville scored midway through the period to cut the lead to one. Lakeville tied the game on a power play goal late in regulation. Christine Fries scored the winning goal and her second goal of the game in overtime. Goalie Lindsay Kauchick earned her first victory for the Lightning. The Lightning play their first home game of the year Tuesday against Cretin Durham Hall at the Apple Valley ice arena. Come cheer the girls on as they look to avenge last years playoff loss to the Raiders.

Dakota United wins their first ever CI Division State Adapted Soccer championship with a convincing 7-2 win over Anoka-Hennepin.  Nolan Anderson’s goal in the waning seconds of the match made the final, 7-2. Make sure to congratulate Eastviews Nolan Anderson, Tyler Cropsey, and Katie Olson.
