Attention Parents of Juniors:
Each year the parents of the Junior Class are responsible for the breaking down of the Senior Party decorations. We need
many more volunteers for the morning of June 14 to quickly help clear
the Commons Area. The proper dismantling and storing of the reusable
decorations is the first step toward a successful 2009 Class Party. The
tear-down is an excellent way to see how the party is put together while
generating conversations about next year’s event. Volunteer
yourself today. Volunteer your friends tomorrow. Send your contact information

cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against a disease that
touches too many lives. Won’t you join us this year and be a part of Relay?

The JV
Baseball team started out the season with a 7-1 record and then hit a skid of
5 consecutive losses as we searched for a replacement for our injured shortstop
and leader, Cory Meyer. Sam Foy answered the call and we are now 10-6 heading
into our last 3 games. Sam had another excellent fielding performance on
Wednesday as the JV beat Bloomington Jefferson 12-1 in 5 innings. Ryan
Zwolensky delivered another outstanding pitching performance, scattering 5 hits
and 2 walks as he kept the Jaguars off balance while striking out 2 and giving
up just 1 run. Joel Bertelsen and Cody Groskreutz each doubled plus they
collected a total of 3 hits and 2 RBI. Cody really blew a close 3-1 game wide
open during the 4th with an excellent sacrifice bunt that moved the
runners and his speed allowed him to be safe at first. This
ignited an inning that saw the Lightning send 15 batters to the plate and score
9 runs. Andy Gench reached base 4 times and had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Tom Bauer had
2 hits and lead the team with 3 RBI. The team has 3
games to play including 2 nonconference games in a tournament on Saturday and
then our final game against Lakeville North on Monday.
The 9A
Baseball team defeated Bloomington Jefferson 11-2 yesterday. Ty
McDevitt delivered the big hit with a bases loaded triple and Kyle Jonas, Tom
Jerle, and Jacob Ulrich all made big contributions to the offensive
attack.
The JV Girls Golf team edged out Bloomington Jefferson
by one stroke on Tuesday as they played in cloudy, misty weather. Lindsey
Wilharm, Laura Appleton and Mara Bertelsen took 2nd, 4th
and 5th places, respectively, in the match. Also scoring for
the team was Jordan Gunhus. Rounding out the squad for the day were
Melanie Nelson and April Sandquist. The girls play again today in the
District 196 Championship.
On Monday night, Eastview Boys
Lacrosse won their first swction game against Simely 18-2. Captain, Andy Freeman lead

The Lightning Varsity Softball team fell to Kennedy yesterday 7-2. Kennedy
scored the bulk of their runs in the 2nd inning thanks to some
defensive miscues, and the offense never quite got on track to mount a
comeback. Sophomore Lindsay Spanton and her three hits provided some
spark, and Abbey Burkel and Ashley Hunt each hit doubles to the wall, but it
was too little too late. Yesterday was also the final home game for five
seniors: Abbey Burkel, Susie Kyllo, Danielle Fraser, Kari Johnston, and Kaity
McIntosh. The Lightning finish the regular season today at Park Cottage
Grove. Playoffs begin Monday at the Lexington/Diffley complex in
The Lightning JV Softball raised their record to 11 - 7
with a 8 - 3 victory over Kennedy. The Lightning batted around in the second
inning and scored six. Megan Glockner started the inning with a single and
Carlie Wagner put one over the center field fence. Wagner's home run was followed by singles
from Macaela Karnick, Kayleigh Montgomery, KT McIntosh, Sophie Williams and a
double from Sam Mahoney and the second inning ended with the Lightning leading
6 - 1. Senior KT McIntosh had two hits,
scored two runs and had an assist in the field.
