Girl’s Track and Field -There will be a required parent and athlete meeting tomorrow at 6:00 pm
in C350.
The Booster Club for
the Eastview/Apple Valley Girls Lacrosse team will be
holding a parent meeting on Wednesday April 2 from 5:30 pm till 8:00 pm in
the Recreation room at Hayes park. This is in the Senior building between
the hockey arena and main park building. Enter the south door. All parents of girls planning on playing in
the spring are requested to join us. Coach Garnet will join us after
practice at 6:00 pm for questions and answers. The first two practice's for
Lacrosse will be held at Hayes arena on Friday March 28 from 11-1 pm and Monday
March 31st from 3-5 pm.. All girls must sign up at school and have a
physical on file with the school before being allowed to participate. Remember
the week of the 24th is spring break so don't wait until then to
sign up. Please do it this week. If you have any questions see Captains:
Kaitlyn Gherity, Caitlin Hart, or Lindsey Day.

the last College Planning Seminar of the year: “College Planning for Grades 9-11” has will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 7:15 pm in the EVHS Performing
Arts Center. A panel of college admissions representatives from 2
and 4-year private and public colleges and universities will present a broad
overview of the college admission process. This panel presentation will
follow the District 196 Minnesota Educational College Fair to be held at Eastview
on April 2 from 4-7 pm.
District 196 will
host a Minnesota Education Fair (MEF College Fair) sponsored by the
Minnesota Association of College Admission Counselors (MACAC). The

On Monday, April 14 all athletes and
their parents are encouraged to
attend a presentation on playing collegiate athletics. This presentation
will include information on the realities of collegiate athletic scholarships and participation, the recruiting process, the NCAA
clearinghouse, eligibility requirements and much more! We are very
pleased to have Adam McCombs from JumpForward.com join us for this
presentation. As a District 196 alum and former collegiate athlete
himself he has put together a FREE service to assist anyone in the process of
competing in athletics at the collegiate level. The meeting will be held
in Lecture Room C250 starting at 7:00 p.m. (PLEASE NOTE THE START TIME AS AN
EARLIER MESSAGE SAID 6:00!!) and is open to ANY interested student, parent,
coach etc.
Senior Parents: Class of
2008 Senior Party Memory Wall – Entry extended until tomorrow. We are creating a

Be sure to bring your parents to the

The District 196 Community Education Aquatics Program will offer classes over spring
break, Tuesday through Friday, March 25-28 at Black Hawk Middle School. A Lifeguarding
course will be offered for ages 15 and up. Water
Safety Aide is a class designed for youth, ages 13 and up who would like to
be employed to help teach swim lessons. Water
Safety Instructor is a class for ages 16 and up that would like to teach
Red Cross swim lessons. If you are receiving this electronically, click on the

District 196 will
host a Minnesota Education Fair (MEF College Fair) sponsored by the
Minnesota Association of College Admission Counselors (MACAC). The MEF College
fair will be held at Eastview High School on April 2 from 4-7 pm. Approximately 100 public and private
colleges and universities, community and technical colleges, proprietary
schools and military organizations will be represented at Eastview.
This is the first year that District 196 has hosted this event. This
regional college fair event gives students and parents an opportunity to
explore a variety of options for post-high school education, technical training
or military service. Students and parents are able to visit with the
representatives, ask questions and obtain literature about the schools and
organizations. A list of participating colleges, trade and career schools and
military organizations can be found on the MACAC web site at www.mn-acac.org.
Click on “College Fairs”, and then “For Students and Parents”. Admission
to the college fair is free. The hours of the fair are from 4:00 pm.
to 7:00 pm.
Do you have any outgrown prom dresses? Any gently used
shoes, shawls, jewelry or purses that would be good for prom? If so,
please consider donating to Operation
Glass Slipper, a charitable organization created for girls’ right here in
the twin cities who cannot afford dresses for prom. For more information,
check out their website at www.operationglassslipper.org. If you are interested in donating to this worthy
cause, there will be a drop-off box located in the Main Office through Friday
April 4.
Registration is open
for 8th hour classes offered during the fourth quarter of the
2007-2008 school year. These 8th hour classes are a part of
our extended day program that provides students an opportunity to recover
credit lost from a course they attended during the standard school term.
Registration forms are in the guidance office. The registration deadline
is Monday April 7. A brief description of the course offerings and
attendance date/times are listed below. Any other questions may be
directed to the program coordinator Thomas Sharp at thomas.sharp@district196.org
Eastview will provide after
school make-up classes from Tuesday April 15 to Thursday June 5 for
students wishing to earn English, Math, Social Studies, Science, or Wellness
credit towards graduation. A Basic Standards Test preparation
course is also available for elective credit. The classes will be for make-up
credit only; course availability is dependent on class enrollment. There
is no cost for these classes. This program is only open to Eastview High
School attendance area students. Classes will run Tuesday through
Thursdays beginning at 2:30 pm and ending at 3:50 pm. Classes will be
worth the equivalent of a one-quarter course or .75 credits.
COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Juniors - If you are
interested in political science and
the government process, you are
invited to participate in the Boys State Program in Marshall, Minnesota
June 15 thru 21. Please pick up an application in the Guidance
Office. The deadline is April 11.
A representative from Michigan Tech
will be in the Career Center on Thursday, April 4 during 4th hour.
Seniors – don’t forget that your application for any Eastview Community Foundation scholarships are due tomorrow to the

Last week Scott Hogan competed at the High
School National Wrestling tournament
in Virginia. Scott won two matches against the best competition in the U.S.
Congratulations!

SPORT SCORES
The Boys
Track and Field team kicked off
their season over spring break with a great team performance at the Husky
Indoor classic. 1st place finishes included: Ryan McCormick 55
hurdles, Michael Mittelsteadt 800 meter, and Matt Karnick in the Pole
Vault. Second place honors went to: Will Jackson 55 dash, Steve
Smith 55 hurdles, Peter Osborn 800 meter, and David Pearcill triple Jump.
3rd place was secured by: Jeff Debele 1600, Frank Veldman high Jump,
Marty Maloney 3200 meter and the 4x800 of(Cayton, Rosvold, Carleton, Abramson).
A small, but strong group of Girl's Track team Members spent the
last Saturday of their spring break in Wisconsin at the All American,
surprising even themselves. Not having enough athlete to compete in the last
two events, the plan was to go home early, but after checking team scores they
remained an extra hour to pick up the team trophy. Winning performances were turned
in by Kim Lieder 55 M Hurdles, Claire Elliot 200 M Dash, and Kjirsten Jacobson
in Long Jump. Anne
Ferguson was 2nd in the 400 and the 4 x 2 of Beckman,
Beckman, Lieder and Brown barely missed a first place finish. Other scorers for
the Lightning were; Mulcahy, Schrier, Williams, and Lawrence. Congratulations
on a great win.
