She was brave and possessed the essence of all that is noble.  Legend tells us that she possessed the gifts of dignity, power, and youth, making her invincible.  Kjirsten will be recognized at the St. Paul Athena Award banquet later this spring.  Congratulations to Kjirsten!

SPORT SCORES

The Lightning Girls Varsity Basketball team playing Lake Conference and crosstown rival Apple Valley for the third time this season had to battle but  made enough plays to come up with the 61-55 win.  Trailing by one, 26-25 at halftime the Lightning built up enough off a cushion and took care of business in the second half to come up with the 6 point win in the semifinals of section  3 play. Brittnye McSparron led the Lightning with 22 points overcoming a box and 1 defense by Apple Valley and all the extra attention that defense brings.  Danae Moore added 13 points and Sam Mehr 10 to aid in the Lightning win.  Strong bench play by Haley Thomforde, Emily Kaus, and Kelsey North make a huge difference in the game with Haley snagging 7 and Emily 6 rebounds in the game.  The Lightning now move to the finals with a 6:00 game at St. Olaf against a strong Park of Cottage Grove club on Friday at 6:00 at St. Olaf. Thanks to all the great fans who came down and supported us in the win.  Now that you know the way, come on down and cheer us on as we make a bid to make the State Tourney against a strong Park of Cottage Grove club on Friday.  Go Lightning!

The 9A Boys Basketball team improved their overall record to 25-7 and 13-5 in the Lake Conference by defeating Nicollet Jr. High Friday 57-46.  It was an overall team effort both on offense and defense that sealed the victory.  The Lightning controlled the boards all day.  Not only did the big men do their job on the glass, but the guards did an awesome job too.  Leading the way in scoring was Lethzee Calderon with 20, and Ryan Osgar with 9.  Next up for the Lightning is Lakeville South at home on Tuesday.

The Boys Swim and Dive team placed 12th in the State meet held over the weekend. Eastview entries had the following results: the 200 Medley relay of Matt Powers, Mike Placeway, Jon McDonald, and Sam Rauchwarter placed 11th; Mike Placeway placed 29th in the 50 free and 18th in the 100 Breaststroke; Jon McDonald placed 9th in both the 100 Fly and the 100 Breaststroke; Sam Rauchwarter placed 21st  in the 100 Free; and the 200 Freestyle relay team of Mike Placeway, Jon McDonald, Philip Kapalka, and Sam Rauchwarter placed 8th and earned All-State honors.
