A balanced scoring attack and a stingy team defense led the Lightning Girls Varsity Basketball to a  51-35 win, the Section 3 Title, and a trip to the State Tournament  over a tough Park of Cottage Grove squad.  After an early seesaw game the Lightning took charge and established a 21-13 halftime lead.  The Lightning never looked back and extended the lead, playing with poise and composure to earn the 16 point win.  Brittnye McSparron led the Lightning offensive attack with 12 points, followed closely by Sam Mehr with 11, Danae Moore with 10, and Emily Kaus with 8.  Seniors Brittany Rud and Cassie Sheppard each snagged 6 rebounds against the much taller Park squad.  Brittany Rud set the pace on defense with 4 steals.   Thanks to the great fan support for this game and all season long.  Help us win that state trophy as we start the journey on Wednesday.  Go Lightning!
