PARENT SECTION                                                   

CLASS OF 2008 SENIOR PARTY SNEAK PREVIEW:  The 2008 Senior Class Party Committee invites the general public to a Sneak Preview of the 2008 Senior Class Party on Friday, June 13 from 3:00 pm–5:00 pm.  Seniors (Future Graduates):  We ask that you stay away and wait to be surprised until after graduation.  Junior Parents, this is a great chance for you to get a glimpse of what you have in store for next year.  If you are considering being one of the Chairs next year, you can get a lot of answers by walking through the party during the Sneak Preview and taking notes.

    * If you call in for your student by 1:00 pm you will not need to send a note the following day.

Turn old cell phones and printer cartridges into valuable dollars for Media Center books!  Just have your student drop them off at the Main Office or the Media Center main desk.

 

Eastview will provide a Summer School program from June 16–July 10 (17 days) for Eastview High School students wishing to earn credit towards graduation.  Class will not be held on Thursday July 3 or Friday July 4 in observation of the Independence Day holiday.  Courses offered will include English, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Wellness for grades 9–12.  The students can also prepare for Basic Standards Testing through their summer school courses.  These courses will be for make-up credit only.  The courses will run Monday through Friday with each day organized into three periods:  Period 1 from 7:30–9:15, Period 2 from 9:20–11:05 and Period 3 from 11:10–12:55.  Each period is worth the equivalent of one quarter.  A student, therefore, could make up as much as 2.25 credits or three quarter length courses if he/she signs up for all three periods.  Registration forms are available in the Guidance Office.  Any questions in regard to the summer school program should be directed to program director Thomas Sharp at thomas.sharp@district196.org

 

Parents of Seniors:   If you placed a Grad Ad in the 08 yearbook and would like to pick up your baby picture, they are available in the Main Office.

SENIOR PARTY INFORMATION (for parents)                                               

Senior Poster turn in - Parents, you have three choices:

Preferred).  Drive up to the WEST side (lower) of the school between 6:00 and 8:00 pm on Wednesday June 11.  We will collect your posters then.

2) Contact Sheryl Hjellming 651-894-5766, or sherylhj@gmail.com  or Robin Ruegg 651-681-9233 or robinruegg@comcast.net  You can drop your poster off with us.  We both live in Eagan. 3) You can drop your poster off Thursday June 12 between 6:00-8:00 pm and we will put it up, though it will likely not be in alphabetical order. Your student will bring the poster home from the senior party.  Because you have your name and phone number on the back of it, if your student forgets, someone will call you to pick it up.

Junior Parent Decoration Tear-Down:

We could use a few more volunteers for the Senior Party tear-down. Wake-up early Saturday, June 14 and come to the Lower Level Commons entry at 5:00am. The morning will consist of both light and heavy work, requiring gloves, assorted tools and a caffeinated beverage. If you are thinking about the 2009 Senior Party Chair or Co-Chair position and haven’t made the call yet, make it now!  The Class of 2009 needs you.  Filling the position before the end of this school year is important.  The party is helped by a well documented history and an eager group of 2009 parents who have already signed up to help. There is also a warehouse full of decorations and supplies to support next year’s theme.  Help continue the tradition of a safe and memorable send-off for our students. SENIOR SECTION                                                    

Senior Party Tickets- Last chance to get them at a reduced rate.  Tickets will be on sale in the gym hall after the graduation rehearsal.  The price will still be $75.00 ea.--cash only.  Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the party for $85.00 ea.--cash only.  You only have one senior party--DON'T MISS OUT!

 

If you have not picked up your cap and gown yet, please do so as soon as possible so that you have a chance to make sure it fits properly.  Caps and gowns can be picked up in the Main Office.

 

Ordering Final Transcript Information :   

Colleges are requesting graduating seniors to order their final transcripts to be sent to the college they will be attending in fall.    IN LIEU OF SUBMITTING THE TRANSCRIPT REQUEST FORM THAT YOU ARE RECEIVING FROM THE COLLEGE, PLEASE ORDER YOUR FINAL TRANSCRIPT THROUGH DOCUFIDE, WHICH IS ACCESSIBLE THROUGH FAMILY CONNECTION OR THE EVHS WEBSITE.  Complete instructions on ordering your transcripts through Docufide are included in your senior packet.  If you have any questions on this process please contact Ms.Gerrits in the Guidance Office at 952-431-8914 or Cheryl Cross at 952-431-8913.

 

Graduating Seniors who are playing college athletics next year have the opportunity to lift and condition at Eastview throughout the summer months for the Alumni cost of $50.  Register online or with the flier that will be mailed home soon.

Students do not have to join the fraternity.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office and the deadline is June 13.

The Relay for Life of Apple Valley is only weeks away.  Mark you calendar for Friday, June 27 and join us at the EVHS stadium track to celebrate family and friends who have won their battle against cancer, support those who are fighting cancer now, and remember those we have lost to cancer!  Our own Pat Gerrits from Guidance will be this year’s Honorary Chairperson – how cool is that!  This is a great event to share with your fellow community members, teachers and classmates and really helps the American Cancer Society work toward a cure for cancer.  Join one of the many EVHS teams already registered, form a new team or just donate to someone at www.events.cancer.org/rflapplevalleymn.  But most of all, plan to come for a really fun and often moving night and help to make a difference! 

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                               

Join the EVHS Girls’ Cross Country team next year. Meet a great group of kids, have fun and get in great shape. There will be an informational meeting at Eastview tomorrow in Room C350 at 5:00 pm. Bring a friend!

 

Opening Lifting & Super Group registration is open for any athletes & students who want to maintain or build up their strength through the summer months.  Fliers will be mailed home & registration is also available online.

 

Attention all Girl Soccer players:  Please turn in your Varsity Camp Summer Registrations ASAP.  Forms can be obtained from the Captains or Coach Dye.  Registrations can be mailed in, dropped off in the Main Office or handed in to Coach Dye. 

 

Eastview Girls’ Soccer meeting is being held for all current/future soccer players tomorrow at 7:00 am in Room C250. Meet the new coach and learn about important upcoming dates!

 

Any Girls Lacrosse player who has not turned in their uniform should do so immediately.  Please bring them to the Main Office as soon as possible.

 

All Boys Track and Field athletes need to turn their equipment in after school today or tomorrow.  Fines will be assessed for all missing equipment!

 

Wrestlers are encouraged to attend the training sessions scheduled.  The next session is tomorrow at 3:30 pm.

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

The Boys Track and Field team brought home some all state athletes from the state track meet this last weekend.  All state honors went to Franky Veldman 5th in the High jump.  Travis Burkstrand placed 7th in the 800 with a school record breaking time.  Ryan McCormick in the 110 hurdles and the 4x400 relay team placed 7th made up of (Ryan McCormick, Andre Hunt, Travis Burkstrand, Will Jackson). 

 

Undefeated...The Lightning Girl's Track and Field athletes finished their season by winning a State Title at this weekend,s MSHSL State Track and Field Championship. On Friday, every athlete competing qualified for finals, giving the team a great shot at the title. All athletes competing earned All-State honors. Top performances were by Lexi Brown who was the individual champion in the 400 meters and who was on the 2nd place 4 x 200 meter relay team. Kim Lieder was 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles, 2nd in the 4 x 200 and 6th in the 300M Hurdles. Sarah Ake placed 2nd in the 4 x 200, 6th in the 4 x 100 and 8th in the 300 hurdles.  The final member of the 4 x 200 was Claire Elliott, who was also on the 6th place 4 x 400 relay.  The 4 x 800 relay, run by Anne Ferguson, Kayla Willer, Christine Fries and McKenzie Melander was 3rd =.  Alex Beckman was 4th in the 100 and on the 6th place 4 x 100 relay.  Kjirsten Jacobson was 5th in the long jump.  Amanda Beckman was 6th in the long jump, 8th in the 100 and and ran on the 4 x 100 relay.  Anne Ferguson was 7th in the 800 and ran on the 4 x 400 relay.  Mallory Burnham ran on the 4 x 100 relay and Taryn Dwyer ran on the 4 x 400.  This ended a season of Championships - the Lake Conference, Section 3, State True Team, and The MSHSL State Meet were all won by Eastview Lightning.  What a year to remember!!!!!
