Turn old cell phones and printer cartridges into valuable dollars for Media Center books!  Just have your student drop them off at the Main Office or the Media Center main desk.

 

Eastview will provide a Summer School program from June 16–July 10 (17 days) for Eastview High School students wishing to earn credit towards graduation.  Class will not be held on Thursday July 3 or Friday July 4 in observation of the Independence Day holiday.  Courses offered will include English, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Wellness for grades 9–12.  The students can also prepare for Basic Standards Testing through their summer school courses.  These courses will be for make-up credit only.  The courses will run Monday through Friday with each day organized into three periods:  Period 1 from 7:30–9:15, Period 2 from 9:20–11:05 and Period 3 from 11:10–12:55.  Each period is worth the equivalent of one quarter.  A student, therefore, could make up as much as 2.25 credits or three quarter length courses if he/she signs up for all three periods.  Registration forms are available in the Guidance Office.  Any questions in regard to the summer school program should be directed to program director Thomas Sharp at thomas.sharp@district196.org

Attention Eastview Lightning Football Players/Parents/Fans/Alumni--Create a Legacy!  Buy a Brick.  The Eastview Lightning Touchdown Club is installing a VICTORY CIRCLE in Lightning Stadium this season to help raise funds for the football program.  You can become a part of Eastview history by having the name of your family, player, student, coach, teacher or business inscribed on a brick paver.  Brick prices start at $100.  An order form is available at http://www.district196.org/evhs/athletics/fall/football/pdf/victorypatio.pdf.  Contact Greg Johnson (612-718-6908) if you have any questions. Orders placed by tomorrow (Thursday) will be installed this summer!  Orders can be mailed in or dropped at the Eastview Main Office and put in the Eastview Football Booster Club Mailbox.  Don't wait--send your order NOW!

 

A benefit and silent auction will be held by the Hockey Blue Line Club this Saturday, June 7 for Jim Pavlo, father of junior Jacob Pavlo.  Jim was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in January.  Please support the Pavlo family by attending this event at  Majors Sports Café in Apple Valley from 1:00-4:00 pm.

 

SENIOR PARTY INFORMATION (for parents)                                               

Senior Poster turn in - Parents, you have three choices:

Preferred).  Drive up to the WEST side (lower) of the school between 6:00 and 8:00 pm on Wednesday June 11.  We will collect your posters then.

There will be a meeting of the Senior Party Chaperones (previously known as Security) tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in the East End of the Commons.  All interested Junior and Senior parents are invited to attend. 

 

Senior Party Decoration Tear-Down:  Senior Parents put decorations up and Junior Parents take them down. It’s the Senior Party’s Circle-of-Life. The tear-down needs a few more Junior Parents for Saturday, June 14 at 5:00 am. The morning will consist of both light and heavy work. Bring gloves, and assorted tools. Class of 2009 Parents:  The Class of 2009 needs someone to step forward to Chair or Co-Chair(s) next years Eastview Senior Party. The position is important but not overwhelming. You will be aided by a well documented party history and a group of motivated parent volunteers already identified. There is also a warehouse full of decorations and supplies to support next year’s theme. Help continue the tradition of a safe and memorable send-off for our students. SENIOR SECTION                                                    

Class of 2008 Senior Party Tickets will be on sale during lunch in the Commons today and tomorrow.  Tickets are $75 each.  Tickets will also be available for purchase immediately following the graduation rehearsal on Tuesday, June 10, cash only.  Ticket prices increase to $85 the night of the party, cash only.

 

If you have not picked up your cap and gown yet, please do so as soon as possible so that you have a chance to make sure it fits properly.  Caps and gowns can be picked up in the Main Office.

 

We are looking for candid photos from the past four years to be place in the Senior Video.  There is a drop box in the Main Office for pictures.  Please label them if you want them to be returned. Pictures can also be e-mailed to evhsseniorvideo@hotmail.com

 

A reminder to College Bound Seniors:    Colleges are requesting graduating seniors to order their final transcripts to be sent to the college they will be attending in fall.   In lieu of submitting the transcript request form that you are receiving from the college, please order your final transcripts through Docufide, which is accessible through Family connection or our EVHS website.  Complete instructions on ordering your transcripts through Docufide are included in your senior packet.  If you have any questions on this process please contact Ms. Gerrits in the Guidance Office at 952-431-8914.   . 

 

Graduating Seniors who are playing college athletics next year have the opportunity to lift and condition at Eastview throughout the summer months for the Alumni cost of $50.  Register online or with the flier that will be mailed home soon.

Students do not have to join the fraternity.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office and the deadline is June 13.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                

Yearbook distribution will take place during an end-of-the-day Homeroom at 2:05 tomorrow. Seniors who did not order a yearbook can buy one book outside the Main Office after school on Friday for $80 with your student ID.  Students in 9th, 10th, & 11th grade may purchase remaining books on Monday morning in the Main Office from 6:45–7:30 am and then again after school.

If you were unable to attend the Academic Awards Ceremony– you can pick up your certificate in the Main Office.

 

Would you like to enrich your children’s lives?  Help them make an international friend?  Give them a summer to remember?  Earn a discount on the next French trip?  Host a French student this summer!  There are still some students who need host families.  You provide room and board, include them in your regular summer activities and get an incredible experience for your family and maybe make a life-long friend.  If you cannot host, perhaps you have a friend or neighbor who might be interested in hosting, so please pass this along to them.  Students are coming in three groups: June 16-July 17, July 8-28 and July 9-28.  If you are interested in hearing more, please contact Mary Kuettner at mary.kuettner@district196.org

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                               

Anyone young men interested in running Cross Country next fall should attend the spring meeting today after school in Room B327.  If you cannot make the meeting you should talk to Coach Sharp before  this afternoon.

 

Opening Lifting & Super Group registration is open for any athletes & students who want to maintain or build up their strength through the summer months.  Fliers will be mailed home & registration is also available online.

 

It’s the last week to order your EASTVIEW STRENGTH t-shirt to support the Phy Ed and Weight Room area of Eastview!  You can pick up an order form in the Weight Room or from Ms. Beckmann in the Main Office.

 

Attention all Girl Soccer players:  Please turn in your Varsity Camp Summer Registrations ASAP.  Forms can be obtained from the Captains or Coach Dye.  Registrations can be mailed in, dropped off in the Main Office or handed in to Coach Dye.

 

Attention all Boys and Girls Swimmers and Divers, we will have a meeting after school from 2:35-2:50 in Room B329 today. All of you that plan on participating on the team next year are expected to attend.  If you can not be sure to speak to Coach Tollefson.

 

Any Girls interested in Tennis this Fall - come to a short informal meeting today right after school in Room C350

 

JV Girls Track athletes! If you have your uniform turned in to coaches and have completed at least one of the fundraisers, please stop by the Main Gym Monday to pick up your photos.  If not please see Fischer during the day or after school to pick up a note for your parents.

Also, see one of the captains to pick up all of your information for the banquet to be held on Wednesday, June 11.  Remember we are being introduced at the school board meeting on Monday June 9.

 

The banquet for the EVHS Boy's Lacrosse teams will be held on Sunday, June 8 at 5:00 pm in the EVHS Commons.  Cost is $10/pp (seniors, managers, coaches and significant others are complimentary).  Dinner will be catered by Brianno's.  Please RSVP to Lisa Zoe at 651-687-9631 or 651-235-2981 by June 4.  Payment may be sent to Lisa Zoe at 1480 Pine Tree Pass, Eagan, MN 55122.  Please make checks payable to EVHS Boys Lacrosse.  Coach Roche has requested that the players wear shirts/ties and no jeans or shorts.  Robyn Brown will have photographs of the players available for purchase the night of the banquet.  Proceeds from the sale of the photographs will benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

 

Any Girls Lacrosse player who has not turned in their uniform should do so immediately.  Please bring them to the Main Office as soon as possible.

 

All wrestlers are encouraged to participate in the wrestling training session today at 3:30 pm in the Wrestling Room.

Junior Kyle Nesheim competed in the AAA State Golf Tournament the last two days and finished 64th including a solid 76 on the first day. If you see Kyle please congratulate him on a great season.

Eastview Dance Department presents “Believe”   Come see EVHS’s Annual Spring Dance Show June 5 & 6 at 7:00 pm in the PAC.  Tickets will be on sale at lunch today and tomorrow. Adults are $7 & students are $5.  Tickets will also be sold at the door, but a sell-out is possible so get your tickets early! You’ll see a variety of creative routines from Clowns to Masks!  Styles will include jazz, lyrical, musical theater, hip hop, swing, Latin, modern and step.  There will also be solos, duets and a big finale production you won’t want to miss!  Support Eastview Dance Department!
