For a Full Day Absence, please use the attendance line in the voicemail system.

    * If you call in for your student by 1:00 pm you will not need to send a note the following day.

Turn old cell phones and printer cartridges into valuable dollars for Media Center books!  Just have your student drop them off at the Main Office or the Media Center main desk.

 

Eastview will provide a Summer School program from June 16–July 10 (17 days) for Eastview High School students wishing to earn credit towards graduation.  Class will not be held on Thursday July 3 or Friday July 4 in observation of the Independence Day holiday.  Courses offered will include English, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Wellness for grades 9–12.  The students can also prepare for Basic Standards Testing through their summer school courses.  These courses will be for make-up credit only.  The courses will run Monday through Friday with each day organized into three periods:  Period 1 from 7:30–9:15, Period 2 from 9:20–11:05 and Period 3 from 11:10–12:55.  Each period is worth the equivalent of one quarter.  A student, therefore, could make up as much as 2.25 credits or three quarter length courses if he/she signs up for all three periods.  Registration forms are available in the Guidance Office.  Any questions in regard to the summer school program should be directed to program director Thomas Sharp at thomas.sharp@district196.org

 

Senior Poster turn in.  Parents, you have three choices:

1)  1. (Preferred).  Drive up to the east side (lower) of the school between 6:00 and 8:00 pm on Wednesday June 11.  We will collect your posters then.

2)  2. Contact Sheryl Hjellming 651-894-5766, or sherylhj@gmail.com  or Robin Ruegg 651-681-9233 or robinruegg@comcast.net  You can drop your poster   off at either of our houses.  We both live in Eagan.

3)  3. We will be putting up posters at the school starting at 6:00 pm on Thursday June 12.  You can drop your poster off Thursday night between 6:00-8:00 pm and we will put it up, though it will likely not be in alphabetical order.

Your student will bring your poster home from the senior party.  Because you have your name and phone number on the back of it, if your student forgets, someone will call you to pick it up.

 

Parents of Seniors:   If you placed a Grad Ad in the 08 yearbook and would like to pick up your baby picture, they are available in the Main Office.

Senior Party Decoration Tear-Down:  Senior Parents put decorations up and Junior Parents take them down. It’s the Senior Party’s Circle-of-Life. The tear-down needs a few more Junior Parents for Saturday, June 14 at 5:00 am . The morning will consist of both light and heavy work. Bring gloves, and assorted tools. Class of 2009 Parents:  The Class of 2009 needs someone to step forward to Chair or Co-Chair(s) next years Eastview Senior Party. The position is important but not overwhelming. You will be aided by a well documented party history and a group of motivated parent volunteers already identified. EVHS Introduces B.O.L.T.S. 2008Building Our Learning Throughout Summer!

We are building on our traditional summer programs by offering a series of elective-credit academic camps focusing on enrichment and skill development.  Check out our BOLTS 2008 Registration Guide, with course descriptions (13 courses available, from each of the four core content areas as well as several elective areas), session scheduling (four different sessions running from June 23 – July 24), and registration information (register online!).  These camps and courses are tuition-based, with financial aid available.  Contact Jodi Hanson – EVHS Student Services (952.431.8920 or jodi.hanson@district196.org) with questions or for more information.

SENIOR SECTION                                                    

Class of 2008 Senior Party Tickets will be on sale during lunch in the Commons this Thursday and Friday.  Tickets are $75 each.  Tickets will also be available for purchase immediately following the graduation rehearsal on Tuesday, June 10, cash only.  Ticket prices increase to $85 the night of the party, cash only.

 

If you have not picked up your cap and gown yet, please do so as soon as possible so that you have a chance to make sure it fits properly.  Caps and gowns can be picked up in the Main Office.

 

We are looking for candid photos from the past four years to be place in the Senior Video.  There is a drop box in the Main Office for pictures.  Please label them if you want them to be returned. Pictures can also be e-mailed to evhsseniorvideo@hotmail.com

A reminder to College Bound Seniors:    Colleges are requesting graduating seniors to order their final transcripts to be sent to the college they will be attending in fall.   In lieu of submitting the transcript request form that you are receiving from the college, please order your final transcripts through Docufide, which is accessible through Family connection or our EVHS website.  Complete instructions on ordering your transcripts through Docufide are included in your senior packet.  If you have any questions on this process please contact Ms. Gerrits in the Guidance Office at 952-431-8914.   . 

 

COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                               

Students may register on line for the ACT test at www.actstudent.org and www.collegeboard.com for the SAT test.  Registration packets are also available in the Guidance Office.

 

Senior Men!!!  If you are attending the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities the Fall of 2008, you are encouraged to apply for the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity scholarship. Students do not have to join the fraternity.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office and the deadline is June 13.

Would you like to enrich your children’s lives?  Help them make an international friend?  Give them a summer to remember?  Earn a discount on the next French trip?  Host a French student this summer!  There are still some students who need host families.  You provide room and board, include them in your regular summer activities and get an incredible experience for your family and maybe make a life-long friend.  If you cannot host, perhaps you have a friend or neighbor who might be interested in hosting, so please pass this along to them.  Students are coming in three groups: June 16-July 17, July 8-28 and July 9-28.  If you are interested in hearing more, please contact Mary Kuettner at mary.kuettner@district196.org

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                               

Congratulations to Coach Jorjean Fischer for receiving the Section 3AA Coach of the Year award this Saturday at the Girls Section Track and Field meet.

 

Graduating Seniors who are playing college athletics next year have the opportunity to lift and condition at Eastview throughout the summer months for the Alumni cost of $50.  Register online or with the flier that will be mailed home soon.

 

Opening Lifting & Super Group registration is open for any athletes & students who want to maintain or build up their strength through the summer months.  Fliers will be mailed home & registration is also available online.

 

The Girls Golf team held their end of the season banquet last night.  The Section team of Ally Huang, Bre Mathiesen, Courtney Docktor, Anna Drahos, Kelly Uhrich, and Kristi Opatz were named Section Academic Champions for Section 3 Class AAA!!  Way to go ladies!!  Other notable honors awarded last night were:  Anna Drahos – All Conference Honors.  Kelly Uhrich and Bre Mathiesen – All Conference Honorable Mention.  Ally Huang - Team Academic Award.  Mara Bertelsen - Most Improved Golfer.  Bre Mathiesen and Anna Drahos – Lightning Award.  Ally Poquette – JV Lightning Award.  Ally Huang – Player of the Year.  Chelsea Ochtera – JV Player of the Year.  Kristi Opatz – Rookie of the Year.  Many thanks to Coaches Bob Boldus and Tamara Colucci for a fun and much improved season, as the Varsity squad finished 5th out of 11 teams in one of the toughest sections in the State.  Hit the Links this summer, ladies!!

The banquet for the EVHS Boy's Lacrosse teams will be held on Sunday, June 8 at 5:00 pm in the EVHS Commons.  Cost is $10/pp (seniors, managers, coaches and significant others are complimentary).  Dinner will be catered by Brianno's.  Please RSVP to Lisa Zoe at 651-687-9631 or 651-235-2981 by June 4.  Payment may be sent to Lisa Zoe at 1480 Pine Tree Pass, Eagan, MN 55122.  Please make checks payable to EVHS Boys Lacrosse.  Coach Roche has requested that the players wear shirts/ties and no jeans or shorts.  Robyn Brown will have photographs of the players available for purchase the night of the banquet.  Proceeds from the sale of the photographs will benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

 

Any Girls Lacrosse player who has not turned in their uniform should do so immediately.  Please bring them to the Main Office as soon as possible.

 

All Boys Track and Field athletes need to turn in their equipment after school from 2:30 through 2:45 to avoid any late fines.

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

The Boys Track and Field team came together as a team with personal best's in all events to become section 3's runner up Champion.  Qualifying for state were:  Travis Burkstrand in the 800.  Ryan McCormick 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.  Nick Budweg 300 hurdles. Matt Karnick Pole Vault and the 4x400 of (Andre Hunt, Will Jackson, Ryan McCormick, Travis Burkstrand).  Good luck next week at state!

 

The Lightning Girl's Track and Field team extended their undefeated season this weekend by winning the Region III AA meet at St Thomas. Outstanding performances from both the track and field led to a 156 to 84 point win for the Lightning. Many athletes set all time personal records. The Lightning will have a total of 14 entries in the State Meet with the following athletes having earned the right to compete in the State Meet next weekend.

Eastview Dance Department presents “Believe”   Come see EVHS’s Annual Spring Dance Show June 5 & 6 at 7:00 pm in the PAC.  Tickets go on sale Tuesday at lunch. Adults are $7 & students are $5.  Tickets will also be sold at the door, but a sell-out is possible so get your tickets early! You’ll see a variety of creative routines from Clowns to Masks!  Styles will include jazz, lyrical, musical theater, hip hop, swing, Latin, modern and step.  There will also be solos, duets and a big finale production you won’t want to miss!  Support Eastview Dance Department!
